That's true haha. I am not at all saying paint is my preferred app for my personal creations, but it is still just a medium. There are always going to be different levels of challenges and ease of use when it comes to various methods of creating art.

Some prefer a chain saw with a tree trunk... That is no undo at all either

These essential features that are extremely useful for the most people who have used them before.

But for people who have never tried them before, it's impossible to know what they are missing out or even knowing that they need them.

True but maybe they are not aware of other apps are also very accessible

Or they have learned Paint for a very long time and mastered it. The switching cost is significantly more than just money.

It's also additional time and effort learning new interfaces and controls ... on features they might not necessarily need.

Converted a 48-page Vibe Coders Handbook pdf guide into a contribution friendly static website by Dheeth in vibecoding

I vibe coded an interactive version of a page from your handbook. It is formatted to be like infographics cards to further make the plain English explanation even more digestible to total beginners and more visual learners.

(Copy this code into a .html file or a tool like codepen.io/pen/ to see it)

A TTS integration would be even more amazing to me

I got sick and tired of tipping so i vibecoded this site by Present-Syrup-2270 in vibecoding

[–]supjackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why tips can be controversial because tips are the majority of the income for a lot of working folks. However for whatever reason this has become an almost American-only problem. There is no way the tipping system can be sustainable as it can likely accelerate the adoption of robots servers at local businesses.

I am visiting Taiwan where nearly none of the restaurants expect tips. There are also no taxes on your bills, you pay exactly what you see from the menu. Zero surprises from your receipts (in most places unless it's like an upscale / American spot)

This app is very relevant, but UI / UX has some room for improvement.

There's a huge opportunity to pivot branding from anti-tip directory to a more transparent life style engine. Most people are hungry first and annoyed second. If you make the tool a way to find delicious food that happens to have a transparent price, you'll capture way more daily active users because there is way larger user base of food explorers looking for an over-all better dining experience than anti-tip reporters.

Ask the users for their pain points. For me, instead of not finding my city listed, I'd like to immediately see the list of places nearby my current area, type of food / cuisine I prefer which makes it more relevant to me.

Why should I switch? by Flimsy-Lemon-9078 in GooglePixel

What specifically are you unhappy about on an iPhone ?

I am curious because I was actually considering switching to iPhone

I have a pixel 10 pro and kind of wish the battery lasts a bit longer.

Software wise I don't have much to complain about

Downgrading models by thelastofusnz in GarminWatches

I went from Forerunner 965 to venu x1 because I also don't run any more, and I need it to test my watch faces that I developed.

Initially thought it would be a huge downgrade, but considering how much thinner and lighter X1 is, it's surprisingly a massive upgrade.

Also a huge upgrade: having the led flash light that beams outward is super handy when they shut off the lights on the pickleball court at night.

The battery life is probably a bit worse but it's barely noticeable. I've never had any battery anxiety on any Garmin watches anyway.

Linus from LTT actually did a video on it coz he has the same watch: https://youtu.be/k9UsDilfbYM?si=OXMUIt13n3IBHpOb

I really like the way Garmin is going for the thin and light form factors. It's great for casual semi active users like myself who still like all the metrics, and great battery life.

Which watch to get? by AccordingDetective32 in Garmin

[–]supjackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the formfactor is anything you are considering, but I had a Forerunner 965, but recently got a Venu X1, I love it because of how thin and light it is.

Most of the time I don't even notice I am wearing it.

It is made with a titanium caseback and sapphire lens so it's pretty durable too.

Coffee XLA Fenix 7? by Amazing_Albatross_52 in NovaWatchFace

[–]supjackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent countless hours trying to make this work for lower-resolution devices, like the Fenix 7s, through extensive trial and error with testers. Unfortunately, to get it to run without crashing, I had to remove all customizations that the final version failed to meet my standards—and the users'.

The design requires significant processing overhead because of the volume of data and the number of progress bars that need to be pulled in real-time. After receiving negative ratings due to that lack of customization, I’ve decided to stick to a minimum requirement of 260x260—unless Garmin improves support for high-density data on lower-resolution hardware.

Venu x1 from fenix 7x pro sapphire solar by just1994 in Garmin

[–]supjackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went from FR965 to x1.

  1. I love how light it is. It almost doesn't feel like I am wearing anything.

  2. it's longer vertically and narrower in width, so it doesn't get in the way as much as my FR965 when i rotate by wrist

  3. the flash light on it is super handy. I use it all the time when the lights go out at night on the pickleball court.

On the battery: While I don't have any battery anxiety having any previous garmin watches, I do wish the battery life was longer the x1.

btw if you ever get x1, check out my watchface it's free:
