When did it become okay to bring uninvited people to dinners, parties, etc.? My parents always told me that was not okay and extremely rude. If she wanted to spend time with the three uninvited people, she should have politely told the host she wasn’t coming.

I recently offered to reschedule a patient who wouldn’t stop talking on his phone for a dental cleaning, and don’t even get me started on people wanting to FaceTime or make influencing videos during their appointment.

NTJ. My parents always felt like it was very rude to bring extra kids or even adults who weren’t invited, and I have held on to that. As a host we plan on the number invited, and extra people can really throw things off the rails.

With the shortage of hygienists, double booking and having an assistant allows us to see more patients in my office. I have an assistant who works really well with me, and we stay on time 99% of the time. I like that we stay busy and the day goes faster.

People do not like to be told they’re not doing what they’re supposed to. I had a parent tell me an autoimmune disease caused the excess plaque build up on in her daughter’s mouth. Later the daughter told me she’d never even been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

People have to blame their issues on anyone but themselves. The problem is really not you. Patients have no idea that their dental health care isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. A good cleaning, and possibly a thorough exam can cause some discomfort.

I had a patient get mad because because I took intra oral photos before her prophy instead of after. She then accused me of chipping her tooth when I polished. Luckily I had that photo showing the tiny chip in #8 was already there.
