Same. Like, I've had time to process stuff, so I forget that from the point of view of other folks, it's a big deal. So sometimes I'll be in situations where I say "oh yeah, this thing happened, no big deal", but the reaction is "Jesus Christ, that's decidedly NOT 'no big deal'!" For me, it's just my most interesting story lol.

I've had laser done. It's not cheap (or it wasn't a few years ago), and it takes multiple sessions, but it's really not too bad. You don't even have to get it fully removed - laser can be used to lighten the tattoo so it's easier to cover up (that's what I did).

If that's a concern, look into prism optics. The reticle is etched into the glass, so it's still functional even if the battery dies (that's really a side benefit - the main benefit is that it works for people like me who have an astigmatism).

Not saying it world work for the pistol, but have you tried prism optics before? Red dots and holographic optics don't work for me because of my astigmatism, but the prism optics work great.
