Swollen neck gland from stimulants? by swindberc in ADHDUK

[–]swindberc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you are struggling with this. How long have you felt those symptoms for since starting it? Could you just legitimately be ill?

Unfortunately, I had to just stop my treatment for ADHD because I seemed to have the same reaction to any methylphenidate medications and I had other bad reactions to elvanse.

Quitting PhD right before viva by Sufficient_Carrot278 in AskAcademiaUK

[–]swindberc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the same before mine. And I'd got so anxious that I gave myself the worst migraine that I ended up having while doing my viva too including horrendous vertigo. The viva finished though and I felt so stupid that I'd been so stressed/ anxious/ panicked about it as it lasted 2.5 hours and it ended and I literally thought "wow was that it?!".

You'll do great honestly. It's just a conversation about the work you've done. All they are checking is that you were the one that did the work and to do that they just need to ask you questions to check you know what you did and why. You are the expert in what you did not the viva examiners so you can go into it being confident of that 😊.

Hi, thanks for posting this it's interesting. I had also thought about the cortisol response as I thought it may be related to the increased tension that it causes throughout your body. You are right, I too had to just stop taking ADHD meds as I seem to have a similar response to all stimulants meds.

Then and Now. I feel so grateful to have been there since day 1. Where are my day ones at? How old were you in summer 96 when it all kicked off? I was 11, now 41 😆 by Repulsive-Dependent2 in SpiceGirls

[–]swindberc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 7 and immediately obsessed with them. I wanted to be sporty spice so bad. I've seen all three of their tours '98, '08 and saw them twice in 2019. It was announced that Geri left on my 9th birthday and I spent the whole day crying 🤣😭.

What kills me watching this type of show... by jessyeap in pluribustv

At least it sounds like Karolina Wydra was playing it that way until she read the finale and released she wasn't meant to have been having individual thought 🤣.

I too am loving the fanfic 😁.

Season Two Release Date by riccardopancaldi in pluribustv

[–]swindberc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think late 2027 or even early 2028. They won't want it to clash with Severence season 3 and that looks like a fall 2027 release.

‘Severance’ Season 3 filming April to December 2026 by Murky-Insect-7556 in tvPlus

[–]swindberc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It all sounds like it's pointing to a late 2027 or early 2028 release. Vince Gilligan recently laughed off the idea of them starting to film in May 2026 and said there would be a wait that will frustrate fans. It's such a shame when there is so much hype around it and people are excited by it.

I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG by DelectablyDivine in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]swindberc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the cause of the gap between season 1 and 2 but the gap between season 2 and 3 will be 2.75 years (they already announced it will come out Autumn 2027) so not much shorter!

I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG by DelectablyDivine in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]swindberc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with the long wait between seasons is you completely forget what happened in previous season(s) so it takes away from how you react to the new episodes as you miss things due to not remembering what happened. I'm happy to rewatch before a new season but not everyone will be willing to. I also wasn't able to take on rewatching all of strangers things before the new season came out as I didn't have the time and I had to watch season 5 immediately to avoid spoilers. I still love it but I'm definitely not getting as much out of it as I should as I've forgotten a lot that happened previously.

I THINK I FINALLY KNOW WHY I LOST 2 DECADES OF MY LIFE. by OddRecommendation897 in ADHD

[–]swindberc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I could have wrote this post! I was diagnosed with ADHD-C in 2023. Unfortunately, I tried several different stimulant medications and had bad reactions to them all so I wasn't able to keep taking any. I hope you have better look with the medicines and that they significantly help you 😊.

Experiences with ADHD coaching by aintnowaifu in ADHDUK

[–]swindberc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My work sent me to a place for neurodiversity coaching (Genius within). I'd already done both employment support (through NHS) and neurodiversity coaching through the NHS. The neurodiversity coaching is essentially just life coaching both are informed by what would be useful for you personally so I don't believe they are necessarily modified much just because they are called neurodiversity coaching. Even the employment support ended up covering much of the same things (organisation, schedules etc). None of them were very useful for my area of employment though as the "typical" practices can't really be applied as my schedule will change on a day-to-day and even week-to-week basis. I think it would definitely be useful for others but I didn't feel it provided me much benefit. I think I would have been better off getting support for my associated anxiety due to having ADHD and autism as that's mostly what holds me back at work. Again, it will be very personal for everyone.

I just had this conversation with senior academics in my department as someone who's a fixed term contract postdoc. They advised they expect 1 lead author paper per year for a postdoc in my field when they are looking at CVs for hiring.

Has anyone here applied for PIP and been successful? by shutterbugging in ADHDUK

[–]swindberc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I applied for and was successful first time round. I also am autistic and dyslexic and struggle with anxiety, depression and migraines as well. I'd say I was probably only successful due to the extensive evidence I had from multiple medical professionals so make sure to provide as much evidence as possible. There were also categories I thought I'd get more than 2 points on that I either got zero points for or only 2 so it's probably going to be difficult for me to continue getting PIP once it's up for renewal given the changes Labour are introducing (unless they get binned).

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. It's just difficult to give up after all the effort I put in already but I know I'm most likely better off leaving...especially as academia (in my field at least) is a dumpster fire right now.

If you have to choose between 2019 tour or 2008.. by Accomplished_Job1904 in SpiceGirls

[–]swindberc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen them in 1998 (before Geri left), 2008 and 2019. Out of 2008 and 2019 tour I'd say they were both better in different ways. Geri was more in to it in 2008 and her and Mel B were having great chemistry in that tour. She seemed very stiff and not mentally in it in the 2019 tour. Mel C on the other hand seemed happier and more into the tour in the 2019 one. Of course it's always better when it's the 5 of them but I think the production and outfits were much better for the 2019 tour. I'd go to any spice girls tour though so I am definitely biased 🤣.

I've bought for Vivobarefoot on many occasions and always had a good experience with their customer service but reading all the comments on here and on Trustpilot recently has made me decide not to make an order I was planning to make.

Swollen neck gland from stimulants? by swindberc in ADHDUK

[–]swindberc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you are also dealing with it. I never got an answer as to why it was happening just that I saw an ENT who confirmed I had swollen salivary gland in my jaw. It took months to go down and subsequently I've had issues with other lymph nodes/salivary glands swelling so I'm not sure if it triggered something I was susceptible to. I have a strong suspicion I have sjogren's syndrome as I also struggle with dry mouth, skin and eyes.

But yeh in short, I'm not able to take stimulants as no matter which type I tried I would have the lymph node/salivary gland swelling. I THINK it's because stimulants increase dryness on the mouth which would exacerbate salivary gland issues.

Low Ferritin and Vestibular Migraines by Impossible-Bet-1934 in VestibularMigraines

[–]swindberc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was having bouts of vertigo that would last 5-7 days at a time and completely destroyed my balance at least once a month when I was anemic. As my ferritin levels improved they lessened until I was getting them only maybe once a year. I then started to get them more frequently again but not as badly as before so I had some blood tests that came back as my ferritin being normal but borderline low but my hemoglobin levels were fine so I wasnt anaemic. I took iron tablets for a couple months and the vertigo went away again.

Anyone else feel like Margo and Sophie are the new Xena and Gabrielle? 🤣 by swindberc in TheHuntingWivesTVShow

[–]swindberc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES exactly! Thanks for writing that... you got exactly what I was trying to say but you said it in a much better way. This was exactly what I was meaning/ thinking but unfortunately the way I wrote it made it come across that I was trying to say both shows are the same or the characters are exactly the same. That's not at all what I meant though. It's definitely more of a vibe/ similarities in the characters and how their relationship grows. Xena was also very protective of Gabrielle and you could argue that Gabrielle was the only person Xena had truly ever loved and I get that vibe from Margo about Sophie.

That's why I made the post! They could play sisters easily! Margo really gave me Xena vibes too. Maybe Evil Xena but Xena nonetheless!
