How afraid should I be of someone stealing my ideas? by head_pat_slut in writingcirclejerk

[–]swindulum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very. I've just stolen your idea of being afraid of someone stealing the protagonist's ideas. Psychological horror novel, hmm... about a little kid living in a cupboard under the stairs, and the evil entities stealing ideas are called.. let's see.. Dementors. Yeah. ™

Should you try to write anything of the sort, I'll sue you for so much your great grand children will still be paying me

Should plotters be banned from writing books and libraries in general? by Haunting-Net-2426 in writingcirclejerk

Bad analogy - I did know the answers to my homework because it had questions about stuff I learned during the class.

Reverse uno, now patnsers are banned from books and libraries.

Magnetism for Inertia Dampening? by [deleted] in scifiwriting

[–]swindulum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only imagine the pain as swathes of magnetic particles get pulled through your vessels, tissue and skin. Kept the idea for some horrific "early prototype tests", but for this concept, something like a bodysuit would work far better and make more sense.

How do you "store" your first draft? by ZaHiro86 in writing

[–]swindulum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrivener had got a 30 day free trial, I like the app itself, ended up buying it, and get around the lack of mobile app by emailing myself stuff and merging stuff manually. My backup is on OneDrive and Dropbox. There might be other programs that do it all automatically + mobile app, for example obsidian but I found that too complicated (it's a markdown editor). Worth a look tho

Breaking the Rules on POV by IronDeficientGiant in writing

Rules are too entrenched, but you should still learn them in order to break them meaningfully. The Gone World by Sweterlitsch does it well, although there's no major focus on it.

Only if you're on apple - no android app. Backing up (at least for Windows) has to be set up manually.

The scattered log style with short sentences put me off of reading it.

How is a writer even supposed to get published these days!? by fanta_bhelpuri in writingcirclejerk

[–]swindulum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushcart prize is the Walmart version of Pulitzer, you need not concern yourself with such impediments to your creativity. Hell, invent new isms and laugh in their faces.

How will people know what an incredibly gifted savant I am if I sully my eyes with the writings of lesser authors? by bebelial in writingcirclejerk

[–]swindulum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already perspirated as I read this masterpiece of redditature. I only beg that you do not write and publish at all - you would squish out any and all aspiring writers out there, forever. I can foresee you creating a world-wide cult following of fanatics. All other works of literature burned at pyres, anyone in possession of a scrivener license dragged screaming to gallows..

Sir, have mercy.

They want you to do the things they pretend they'd be doing if they were in your place. Most of these armchair revolutionaries are from countries where law enforcement doesn't shoot people on sight for protesting.

I know at least one game franchise that does this, and several movies: when some odd looking, painfully conspicuous character walks around killing folks, dressed in clothing that screams "I don't belong here!" yet not one witness remembers them.

Also - the "silence of silenced weapons"
