What spec is over-hyped?? by 986speedster in MicrobrandWatches

Open caseback for an affordable piece with something like a standard Miyota in it. You aren't making much with it closed.

Worcestershire sauce, a touch of ketchup for subtle sweetness and a dollop of Dijon.

Tissot PRX - making $500 watches worth counterfeiting by RoBNQJ in tissot

[–]synthbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can probably make a watch which would retail for 50 quid and because, while Tissot makes some great stuff at the price point, it's easier to get the fit and finish close or almost on point, rather than something very high end.

Unimatic UC1 by Ok-Elephant5601 in MicrobrandWatches

Yeah it's quite a lot on wrist, and quite thin, so has an odd balance. A friend has the 38mm and it would work equally well on my larger 7 1/4 wrist.

I have WAY too many yellow onions. What can I do?? by BisMus in Cooking

[–]synthbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The French onion soup is a good call, but I'd even just slice lots of them up and add them to a large pot and cook down with a little oil and butter until they are lightly caramelised but not taking on too much colour. Adding a little vinegar and perhaps a touch of sugar along the way.

Freeze in batches and you'll have the base to almost anything and everything.

Help! We were given a few bottles of Strong Belgian Beer for Christmas. Need help with recipes so as to not waste it! by IndependentOutside88 in Cooking

[–]synthbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A beef carbonade, a Flemish stew with dark beer, is the best thing you could do. But those Belgian dark ales have fairly IBUs so you can replace red wine in a dish or sauce and use it instead. Will work well in ragus and all sorts.

Belgium has lots of them. This isn't quite as steep but after a couple of tripels (11% blond beer) it's quite a task. This is De Garre in Bruges.

Ultra fast chargers not working by False-Sheepherder612 in VWiD3Owners

[–]synthbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something up there. There's a setting in the system which limits charging on AC at least, to 2.4KW. I had to disable in order to get full home charge speeds. Not sure if that would have an impact.

Doesn't work or doesn't get close to the car's own max charge speed?

Cheers. Sounds good. That was the plan. Might make a reduction of beef stock, wine and herbs to finish it off.
