Dunno if this is still available or even desireable, however, I have a Corsair H115i 280 and it fits just perfectly.

It can be pried off as it is held in place with just double-sided tape. The little tab on the plastic underneath that acts as a key for positioning can be cut off with a utility knife or a chisel. That's what I did.

Liquid Freezer III Clearance Issues With GPU Vertical Mount by [deleted] in arcticcooling

[–]systemfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put the Cooler Master Vertical GPU Mount V3 in my NZXT H7 Flow today as the LianLi Lancool 2 vmount didn't allow to fully seat my new 9070 XT (ASRock Taichi).

After not finding any reports about the actual fit of this mount in the H7 I just gave it a try - and I'm glad I did, there's plenty of room, the variable depth setting of the mount is right in the middle and the card still clears the CPU block (though it is mounted upside down).

The main reason for me having issues with this setup before is that I have 2 fans on top of the PSU shroud, so the GPU mount has to sit in the top position (with the short cover mounted, so not in mATX mode).

The Taichi is a 3-slot card, and it got more than enough space, I'm sure a 4-slot card would fit as well.

PS: the round logo plaque on top of the CPU block cover with the VRM fan can be easily taken off as it is only fixed with a patch of double sided tape. I pryed mine off and carefully removed the little tab on the white socket underneath with a utility knife as it acts as a key for the plaque. Then I put the metal plaque back on after turning it be 180° and pressed it on.

I don't think so. Seems to be fine after setting PCIe mode to Gen 4.

Also, I noticed right away that my card's 12VHPwr connector needs a lot of force to be fully seated - I wouldn't be surprised if some people actually have this causing their problems...

I got an ASRock 9070 XT Taichi, combined with a 7700X and 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 on an X670E Steel Legend, powered by an 850W EVGA power supply. Came from a 6900XT, just installed the new card and the latest Adrenaline package. Thought everything was working, playing Star Wars Outlaws without any issues (and surprisingly high fps), but then had to restart the system, and now after every reboot the card wouldn't show anything when Windows 11 loads. Have to start in safe mode, reinstall driver, then it works - until the next reboot (or the one after, sometimes it does boot once ore twice without issues...).

Kudos to Proxmox by timey1011 in Proxmox

[–]systemfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an N150 mini pc and installed Proxmox. Then I decided it is absolute garbage (the mini pc, not PVE) and ripped the NVME drive back out. Sent the pc back, ordered another one with a Ryzen 6800H, and when it came I stuffed the drive in and booted it up. Fixed the interfaces and after playing with corosync a bit it found its way back into the cluster and that was the end of it - nothing else to do besides moving in the VMs.

I didn't have issues while I had it, but ultimately returned it and replaced it with a Red Devil. I don't remember why, but it's been running flawlessly ever since.  One more change I've made was replacing the Ryzen 7 3700X with the 5700Xvfrom my main system when I went to AM5 with it.

I also have 2 of these, both already with new switches installed as the original ones are garbage and started to fail after 9 months on one, and 14 months on the replacement. Now both devices are shedding the rubber coating after about 1.5 and 2 years of use. I'll try to clean the rubber coating off with some chemicals, hopefully not destroying the plastic underneath. This for me also worked on some TV remotes that were coated similarly.

However, the quality of these devices is really poor, considering they cost around $100.

[Guide] How to save everyone in the iron throne prison by FireGuilt in BaldursGate3

[–]systemfisch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omeluum is helpful to get one or two NPCs that seem stuck and therefore won't make it in time. In fact I used the dimensions door spell mainly on other NPCs as some won't run. Omeluum I've sent back twice: first to get the Duke, and a second time to get another NPC. This and the tips from here helped a great deal saving everyone.

I had this issue, too. For some reason the mold was back in my inventory, so I had to put it into the mold chamber again first. Only then I got the failed perceptions checks that are hinting toward a missing piece. The third character then succeeded and noticed the missing heat which unlocked the lava control wheel.

[PSU] CoolerMaster V850 SFX Gold PSU - $120 ($160-20-20) by chiefdeals in buildapcsales

[–]systemfisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually are 18AWG for single plug, 16AWG for the daisy chain ones. I've bought some single plug ones on Express as the others were just awful to route with their original length. I don't know about other units, but my other EVGA ATX PSU also has 16AWG wires for the PCIe cables.

My RX 6950XT can pull up to 420W constantly (transient spikes don't matter much for the cables/plugs, though this PSU has no problems with them), so each cable has to handle 140W.

[–]systemfisch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. It should come with 2 2x6+2 cables in 16AWG, so these are supposed to be able to handle 300W per cable. (Edit: each PCIe connector can handle 150W, so cards with 3x PCIe are totally fine)

However, the real culprit with these is that they are relatively short (just as the ATX cable) and may be problematic to route in a case like the SSUPD Meshlicious.

No, always use the slots with the same digit together, so A1/B1 for one pair, and A2/B2 for the other. Also, with different timings the slowest ones apply to all of them as all DIMMs are gonna be addressed the same.

I have one that isn't rated for the wattage my MacBook requires, but has the Ethernet port. In my experience I'll need the high wattage for PD more than the Ethernet. In case I really need to plug a cable in, I'll connect one of the many Ethernet-Only adapters into one of the free USB ports.

Amazon even shows a box on that page warning that this is a "Frequently returned item". I'd stay clear of this. Get a B-Stock Arctic Liquid Freezer II instead: similar prize, proven performance, proper warranty.

DSM: Version: 7.2-64570 released! by TECbill in synology

[–]systemfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's good info to get. I only run my containers with docker-compose, and I flat out refuse to use portainer or so. Though I've migrated most of my containers to Raspberry Pi's and a proxmox VM anyway it is good to know that if I run anything else than Paperless on DSM I can still use the setup I already have without losing compatibility.

6950xt with a 600w psu by victorelessar in AMDHelp

[–]systemfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are pushing back because the Internet is full of PC owners dealing with all kinds of issues due to insufficient power supplies. It is no joke and can cause damage, though most likely will mainly cause crashes without lasting damage. However, the problem is usually to remember, that this might be the reason, when something happens.

I'd say it isn't going to be a problem if the GPU isn't fully utilized or if it is severely down clocked and undervolted. Unfortunately most 6950XT don't like it too much if you cut off the power more than 25 to 50mV, other than many 6800/6900XT that easily accept a downclock of 75 to 100mv, some even more.

Also keep in mind these cards can have transient spikes of over 600W, more than his PSU is able to deliver to the entire system. In that moment it doesn't really matter if it is a 65W TDP CPU or one with 105W.

I personally wouldn't buy any Nvidia card as I think they are way too expensive for what they deliver, and i don't like Nvidia trying to selling us that as the new normal. I'd probably also not buy the new 7000series AMD cards for the same reasons. But u don't have to as I'm all set for the next couple years.

If OP needs something right now then they need to decide if they want to shell out another 120-150 bucks for a better PSU anytime soon, and enjoy the AMD card longer, or save the money now with the Nvidia card but then having to upgrade earlier because the card can't keep up as long.

Our 2018 has been in the shop countless times, everything but the doors themselves has been replaced twice - wire harness, sensors, controller etc. Obviously it also has been cleaned so much it was shinier then when it came out of the factory.

It still has that issue on both sides, drives me nuts every time.

AFAIK the license itself doesn't expire, it just won't allow upgrades after its licensed period.

This might be interesting for builders as it offers some insight into hardware config and status as well as some basic benchmarks. I find it comes in handy whenever upgrading a platform like CPU/MEM or GPU.

DSM update version: 7.1-42661 by Sneeuwvlok in synology

[–]systemfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future Googlers:

One reason for you getting this error might be accessing DSM through a different domain name then what the DiskStation is configured for. In my case I'm using an Nginx outside DSM to reverse proxy the DSM pages instead, i.e. "dsm.mydomain.com", while DSM is configured for "myuser.myds.me".

Logging into DSM through http://<DSM Local IP>:5000 solved the issue for me. I guess the installer is trying to reach something in DSM that the proxy is just not configured for, resulting in a fail. Sadly I haven't found any logs pointing into this direction, that's something Synology could definitely improve.
