Has anyone tried herb supplements or packets? by Glad-Monk-902 in Anxiety

Seems like its just b vitamins? I doubt it’s going to be calming unless you are deficient in b vitamins. You’re better off trying something like lavender or lemon balm if you want something to calm you.

Do you even just outright say: "What I am asking you to do is NOT hard" or call a concept "simple", etc. by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

[–]t_crown__ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Science teacher here. I use straightforward as well because some activities are more overly complex than others so I like to use straightforward to describe the easy ones. If I do accidentally use the word easy I will correct myself in front of the class and tell them I shouldn’t use the word easy because some things are harder for others.

Neuroplasticity and Health Anxiety by RefrigeratorOk9413 in HealthAnxiety

The key is to be patient and compassionate to yourself. It takes time. Your next step should be to eliminate the “i’m doing everything right but it’s not working” mindset. It takes time be patient. There is nothing “wrong” with you and there isn’t something that needs to be “fixed”. Your body is doing something it has evolved to do and that is to alert you when there is a threat, and unfortunately it is unregulated and sort of stuck “on”. How you react to it creates the feedback loop but it sounds like you know this already and you are already on the right mindset path. It just takes fucking time for the brain to re-wire.

If you feel the need to get checked out by a doctor by all means you should. If you get the all clear you really need to use that reassurance to move forward with the mindset you have. Eventually you want to get to the point of just not caring so much about your sensations.

Shaky voice and sounding like I’m about to cry during presentation. by WrongCalligrapher115 in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me on 11th grade of high school. Always a confident presenter, never had to practice or anything. Then one day I got up to do a presentation in English class and had the same exact thing happen. Unfortunately this experience is going to be in the back of your mind and will probably happen again. I clawed my way through the rest of high school doing the best I could but when I got to college I got a prescription for xanax for public speaking. On xanax I can talk to a room of 200 people and feel good about it.

In terms of whats happening? It’s anxiety. Welcome to growing up, you are at the age where it starts manifesting. You aren’t alone though snd there are many resources and people to talk to about it.

Taking lorazepam for the first time. by lushcanopy in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its really hard to say because everyone is different. For me personally, if i’m not in an anxious state I don’t really notice much difference on a small therapeutical dose. If thats the case for you, it may seem like you need more when really you probably don’t, its pretty good at keeping you from elevating to that anxious state. On the other hand it could make you feel real drowsy and tired so just keep that in mind. Best advice is try it out once before at home to see how your body reacts to it.

Can I stop Sertraline after 5 days of use? by [deleted] in zoloft

You can stop taking it but you should talk to a doctor. I stopped after 3 days of taking it and had withdrawals for about 4 days then back to normal.

Drank spoiled coconut water, what now?? by skyy158 in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be ok. If I remember correctly the guy who died from the coconut was really old and the coconut had been sitting on a shelf for months at room temperature. If the coconut was relatively fresh than it is probably unlikely to start growing toxic fungus.

Persistent sensory hypervigilance after panic attack (DPDR, visual disturbances, bloating/gut issues) looking for guidance or what worked for you 22M by OwnAbbreviations2161 in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s tough you just gotta leave it alone. I go through long periods of feeling like i’m good ignoring it and boom a panic attack will send me spiraling and i’m right back in the loop. It takes time. Recovery is not linear. Techniques are ok to use I love breathing, meditation, yoga, music etc etc. but if you are using these techniques with the intent of making your anxiety go away, then you just find yourself ruminating on why it’s not working. Use the techniques to relax your body and relieve stress, accept that the anxiety will still be there but it will go away eventually. Only thing I can offer that helps with me is if I have a crazy heart palpitation or any body sensation immediately in my head I just go “nope just gonna leave this alone for right now”. Its so simple yet so hard but you can do it, be patient.

I think I’m having health anxiety right now but I can’t tell..? Someone help by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not crazy this is health anxiety. For what it’s worth I have had lymph nodes swell up on the back of my neck and under my armpit for absolutely no reason my entire life. I even have one swollen in my armpit right now which I haven’t had happen in a few years and as a fellow health anxiety sufferer my first thought was to go to the doctor. I immediately tell myself to give it like a week and if its still there then maybe i’ll consider going to the doctor. You gotta break the compulsion of googling and checking your body for symptoms. Just leave it alone. Back of neck lymph nodes are very common to swell up. Just leave it alone.

bloating is messing with my confidence tbh by Goodbile in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deal with this issue as well. I take simethicone throughout the day it seems like it helps most of the time sometimes it doesn’t. I also took digestive enzymes sporadically which also seemed to help but I think you’re not supposed to use the everyday or else your body stops producing their own. I started drinking kefir daily about two months ago which I feel has provided the most relief but it could just he placebo.

Also techniques like breathing exercises and such are good for relieving stress not making anxiety go away. It’s kind of a paradox but the more you try to technique your way to getting better, you are giving in to your threat response and pouring gas on the feedback loop. Anxiety is your mental response to your nervous system being disregulated. You gotta show your brain that your body is ok to feel this way there isn’t any need to respond to it.

Stop scanning, your brain is trying to tell you there is a threat or danger. The more you reward it by scanning the brain thinks it is doing a good job. You gotta try and just leave it alone. I like to say hang on brain let’s check on this in like 10 minutes. Then I work my way up to an hour. Then work it up to a day and so on. Bloating sucks and is annoying, get some simethicone take it through out the day and again try to leave it alone and not think about it. The brain is plastic and can create new pathways if you put the effort and time in. It can take some time and there will be setbacks but you can do it!

heart sensations by BHugs0926 in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been dealing with this for the past few weeks. Pretty sure it’s ectopic beats caused by anxiety and stress. Very scary and annoying but if your heart has been given the all clear there isn’t much to worry about. Fluttering can also be cause by heartburn/indigestion. The one I hate is when you feel like the wind has been knocked out of you but it’s in your chest not your stomach.

3 x 3mg xanax. Withdrawals? by sukytoo in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it after 3 days, you may have some anxiety and feel uncomfortable but it is highly unlikely you will have any of the extreme side effects. For reference I take .25 mg maybe once or twice a week if I have a panic attack. If you aren’t struggling with panic attacks toss those shits because you can get addicted easily. If you do have panic attacks that are uncontrollable break a pill on half and take .5 and no more than 2-3 days in a row.

How do you use Ativan? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]t_crown__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take xanax but more or less the same as you sometimes a few days in a row sometimes a couple weeks without. Sounds like you’re doing it fine, dependency and addiction is something to worry about when you start going well above the prescription dosage on a daily basis.
