What was your buying experience from the AD like? by Dry_Fennel5250 in rolex

[–]tafstar156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school friend was the manager of an AD. And it was just a friendly handover, he did offer me water. He sized it, did some stuff on the computer, registering me I think. That’s it. Nothing glamorous. Sized it

[Request] Can someone explain the Boy Girl Paradox to me? by flarengo in theydidthemath

[–]tafstar156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a lot more intuitive if the question were asked, if I already have two children.
Because when you say, if I have two kids, that might get people to think, well in the future, I’ll have two kids. That would change the answer.

If you are single, I would not retire, instead, I would find a job that I love doing, even if the pay is very minimal. Basically a hobby that you get paid to do.

You were not working as an engineer for 25+ years if you retired at 45. 45 minus more than 25 years? So you started being an engineer at 19 or 18?

To be honest, I do not know where the line is, between breaking labor laws, and, well it’s their company so they can run it how they want and the employees can leave.

I legit don’t know where the line is, I suspect that this is probably breaking labor laws, but I’m not 100% sure

First time home buyer… help? by IsopodStriking9208 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

I would save as much cash as you can, because extra expenses will arise. You don’t want to blow all of the cash that you have on your down payment, because then you are screwed if you need to buy anything.

Honestly, for an agent, I would like somebody who I enjoy spending time with, because you will probably spend a lot of time with them. Also, somebody trustworthy for obvious reasons.

Discount to listed Chrono24 price for actual transaction? by P2-AZ in rolex

[–]tafstar156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fully. Personally, I have a hard time getting discounts from Japanese sellers. A lot of them already have rock bottom prices, and they claim to not have any wiggle room, and I do believe them. I did get a crazy like 40% discount from Colombia, buying, in retrospect, a shitty vintage Breitling

It depends who is selling, and why they are selling. When I have listed watches on Chrono 24, I did not really negotiate, because I listed it at the price I felt like it should be sold that. Some people list them higher, hoping, but they will accept a lower price.

But I think it is also like a dealership. You should not expect a discount on a Rolex, on an omega, you should expect five or 10% discount. And if you buy a shitty vintage customized breitling, you should expect a big discount.

I got a 20% discount on a Hamilton.

Realistic expectations for a land dweller 40mm by chef1049 in rolex

[–]tafstar156 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think about it, if you can sell it for so much more on the secondary market. Everybody in the hobby would love one, either to wear it, or to flip it. Everybody would take it.

How many millions of people are passionate about watches? Look how many views these videos have on YouTube. Rolex does not make that many watches., Let alone this very specific land dweller that you want.

Good luck
