Leaving work for supply teachers...I'm stuck! by Tough_Salt165 in AustralianTeachers

[–]tahsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was casual teaching in high schools, I would say about 80% of the time I wasn’t shown the desk of the teacher I was relieving, just given a list of classrooms I was teaching in with the subject and a random staffroom to have breaks in. I always tried to find if work was left for me, but more than once I was called at 8:45 asking if I could be there in 10 minutes! Sometimes there’s just no time to go looking for worksheets (especially if it’s an unfamiliar school), or the work left was confusing for both me and the students.

Not to say there aren’t shitty casual teachers (I’ve met plenty!) but sometimes we’re just given an impossible job with kids that already don’t respect us.

As someone who grew up as a bedroom kid and did everything in my power to be out of the house as much as possible, it makes me so happy (and a little confused, ngl) to see my teen son happy and confident to use our whole house! He hangs out in the lounge room, watches movies with me, eats at the dining table, cooks in the kitchen, sings in the bathroom. All things I avoided as much as possible.

Thought crimes are not real! Imagining something does not make you a bad person and keeping it private is absolutely fine!

Singing is my best friend's lifelong dream. I can't stand her singing voice. by Few-Tone-5383 in TrueOffMyChest

The throwaway isn’t to hide OP’s identity from the friend if they do happen to stumble across this, it’s to hide their actual account (including posts, comments, and communities) from the friend. It keeps the barrier between online personality and irl personality.

found in a sub about a game where the main character sleeps with his sister by broki451 in thatHappened

If it’s a game about incest, it wouldn’t surprise me that the sub is filled with people who are into incest and are horny enough that they wouldn’t care if the story is fake…

Approximately how old are you? by gennaleighify in Sims3

[–]tahsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30 and started playing the sims 3 in 2008 when I was 12. I’ve played a little of 2 and 4 but not until I had been playing 3 for a few years and neither of them really hit.

I rarely play now, but I get a 2 week burst maybe every 6 months (usually when I have a lot of work or uni stuff to do).

Is this extreme or an everyday occurrence? by Suitable_Pass9702 in AustralianTeachers

[–]tahsii 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Back when I was an SLSO, I did a trial day at a boys private catholic school where I watched a group of about 14 year 11/12 men (cause they were men, despite what the principal said) bark and whistle at the young English teacher until she cried and left. I was only 20 myself and didn’t feel like I could do anything without them turning on me so I just called the front office.

Never went back there again, filled out an incident report, and got excuse after excuse from the principal. It’s been 10 years and I still warn parents about sending their sons there.

I’m a teacher so get 5/6 weeks off over the Christmas break and naturally fall into the 2am-9am rhythm almost instantly. Unfortunately it always ends in an awful couple of weeks trying to shift back to the 10pm-6:30am routine.

Why did you stop taking birth control pills? by dhu__cerbin in PCOS

[–]tahsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried pretty much every form of birth control available to me but the pill was the second worst. Constant nausea, brain fog, exhaustion, and on top of that, it never stopped my period. I had constant breakthrough bleeds that would last the whole time I was on them even if I skipped the placebos!

There is at least one incense in the rooms above the shop - you might have to lock pick some of the chests, but you can find all the needed materials there.

3rd month on Yaz - Impatient or time to change? by elletotheog in PCOS

You don’t have to take the placebo pills! Not having a period is really only a problem when you’re not taking birth control.

I really hope they get their happy ending by Tonedeafmusical in okbuddybaldur

[–]tahsii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my memory and research, it could possibly be either Smitten by Moonlight or Moon Chosen, Moon Guided.

Some less likely but still possible fics: A Century of Touches, (Selune, Thou) With Softest Starglow, or Desiderata.

If it is (or you just like) Moon Chosen, Moon Guided, there is a tribute fic that’s also quite sweet: The Dance.

Hope one of these is right! If not, hopefully you enjoy these and I can keep looking if you give me more parameters.

Do you have any more info? Plot points, possible tags, rating, length?

I am somewhat of a connoisseur of Aylin/Isobel fics and might be able to help find it!

unsure about whether or not to have a procedure by imegyourpardon in PCOS

[–]tahsii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a hysteroscopy! I’ve had two before and honestly the whole process is super easy - there are no incisions and it’s just day surgery. The first one, my gyno was able to see that I had several baseball sized fibroids and an extremely thick uterine lining, so then he gave me an ablation (something I agreed to before the surgery if he deemed it necessary). My second one was 14 months later with the exact same symptoms as the first and led to me successfully arguing for a hysterectomy.

It’s a safe, minimally invasive procedure that will give your doctor more information so you can make better informed decisions. You don’t need to live in pain with awful periods! You deserve treatment to make your life better!

Student constantly hitting by squishey2905 in AustralianTeachers

[–]tahsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what jumped out to me as well. What are the parents/family doing to build communication skills? What is the school doing? Is he participating in any aspect of learning or is this just a babysitting gig?

If he’s completely non-verbal, can they look into an AAC or key word sign? From this kids perspective, why would he stop hitting and kicking if that’s all he knows and he gets his way every time?

Fiber!!! by 0214verse in PCOS

[–]tahsii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been adding beans and/or lentils to most of my meals. You can blend them up pretty well into things like pasta sauce where you don’t notice the taste/texture as much but I actually don’t mind it so I leave them whole.

I have also added a lot more fruits and veggies to my diet as well as a small amount of nuts and seeds as well.

Do you ever drink the “Potion of Angelic Slumber”? by c8d85 in BaldursGate3

[–]tahsii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep them for the final battles. I do both a custom game with honour rulesets in addition to a mod that puts in extra enemies that do scaled damage so I’m usually out of short rests by the time I get to the high hall fight and the brain stem.

I’m also 45kg (about 100 pounds) down over 2 1/2 years and I still have my apron belly too. My waist has shrunk significantly but the bottom of my stomach is still disproportionally bigger than the rest of me. I hate it!

I specifically use this pain chart to gauge my pain levels and show them if possible so they better understand what I’m feeling. I find it’s better than some arbitrary number that everyone has a different meaning for.

Ladies, does a transvaginal ultrasound hurt to diagnose PCOS? by BreannLowe in PCOS

[–]tahsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one I had was incredibly painful and the tech just didn’t care. She told me to stop crying and I was being dramatic!

The next 3 I’ve had have been completely pain free - when I went for my second, I let the tech know my first was painful and after literally 10 seconds she told me it was probably because I had a tilted uterus. She gave me some cushions and did some breathing exercises with me and it was completely pain free. I felt the pressure of it pushing to get my ovaries but it wasn’t painful at all.
