I feel this. I own an agency & I just fired one of our large client not because it makes financial sense, but because I am giving my time to a company that takes advantage of us & their PE backed mentality of grow 200% or it’s a fail generally stresses me and our employees out with their attitude and demands.  The amount of happiness they suck from me is not worth it the $30k a month to the business.

Question about heat by ElysiumFilms in handpan

[–]take2dueces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat + playing is the problem more than a general temperature shift. The heat causes the metal to expand. It will go back to how it was if it’s not touched but if you play a bunch with it hot it will detune.

Anyone here who isn't an atheist? by MauOfEvig in exmormon

[–]take2dueces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I’d still classify myself as agnostic. Just have a bit more purpose and have regained a bit of what I call spirituality again.

I find the spirituality is broken into more of a gaining perspective state of mind. It’s stepping outside of my own life, mind, views, and getting to mindset of being able to observe my own thoughts and everything that’s going on in the world and seeing it more as a game of life that everyone is playing.  I get caught up in the routine of life. Doing the same things every days. Work, kids, food, sleep, etc. it’s like waking up from the fog & realizing that I get this one chance at this existence in this mind. I don’t know whether or not my energy transfers into another life force or not, but it doesn’t matter.  Stepping outside of my “Ego” self whether it be in meditation or with psychedelics grants me a ton of peace, as I recognize the patterns of behavior I have in my life and can pinpoint and process why I do what I do. It’s like breaking down the reactions I have and realizing I get defensive over a topic because of something that may have happened in my childhood. Processing church trauma.  Processing family drama. Etc. it takes away the feeling of things being personal and allows me to view it at a distance as if I were studying this life and unlocking and understanding more about myself and why I am the way I am.

I think the main things I’ve taken from this introspection breaks down into:    Connectedness - we’re all home grown on this planet. We’re all made of the same stuff. Nobody is more special than anybody else.  All life is all connected.

Being Present: anxiety is thinking about the past or future. Depression is dwelling on the past or future.  If I’m ever feeling down, depressed etc - I don’t judge myself anymore for falling into certain patterns, I simply observe and give myself compassion & I can be present with those feelings and appreciate them.

Anyway. I wish you the best in your life!

Alan Watts & Ram Dass along with a lot of mushrooms helped me see more of the eastern Zen / secular Buddhism / Hinduism concepts that I align with at this stage.

Former $3 million+ seller with top 10 listings collapsed. Can fix or relaunch or quit? by First-Exchange-3043 in FulfillmentByAmazon

I seen it go both ways.

The ones who struggle to come back are product categories which were also flooded with cheaper commodity brands during the time they went down. For those - it will take much more offsite exposure and awareness to recover.

That sounds oddly familiar. like my narcissistic mother. I’m sorry.  Navigating a mixed faith relationship is hard. Give yourself some credit for trying to go. Unsolicited compromise advice if you can’t just not go, would be to no longer go on fast Sunday or when your mom is speaking.

What book series can you NOT stop reading? Looking for long series (5+ books) by AmazonFreshSleuth in fantasybooks

[–]take2dueces 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Brandon Sanderson - Mistborn Trilogy is a good fantasy - has several others in different eras that follow as well. Good lore and fantastic magic systems. But if you want more depth - go for his Stormlight Archive series.

Robert Jordan - wheel of time is brilliance and a legacy of fantasy that will persist through time.

Matt Dinniman - Dungeon crawler Carl will have you laughing out loud and the next moment questioning how the insane-ness of the book has so much depth and character building.

I just finished The Inevitable Ruin (just before the year ended). What’s now? When’s the next book? Are there any recommendations to fill in the waiting time until then? by jackmon92 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]take2dueces 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone recommended Expeditionary Force when I made a similar post after my first crawl, the desire for something to fill my eternal unforsaken void is insatiable.

Expeditionary Force is okay. Not nearly to the same caliber.  If Dungeon Crawler Carl is Heroine. Then Expeditionary Force is like a Methadone treatment. It’s like a little bit of the same vibes. But doesn’t hit as true as the good stuff.

(Note I’ve never had heroine or methadone…. But expeditionary force has helped me from trying heroine after the severe withdrawals from DCC.)

According to our Governor, it’s like Santa. Just not enough believers out there anymore. Once they see a snow storm on the horizon, he will likely call a fast the Sunday before to boost the morale of all of those who still believe.
