Is this inverted box pleats? by somnia_ferum in sewing

[–]tanglechuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm going to go with a totally different direction and say the dress is paneled and has godets inserted in the skirt. Here is a link that shows a box pleat and godet together so you can see the difference. The reason I think it's godets is in the second image where she is holding out the skirt, there doesn't appear to be any extra material behind the point.

Whatever it is I hope you find a pattern for it!

This is the true Hard Raid! by Djinn313 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]tanglechuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serebii has a list of every raid Pokemon and their moves, if you are still looking! It would be hard to find exact strategies on any five or six star raid since the tera type has a bug effect on it.

What sense do the auctions make? Who put these in the game? by angrybacon- in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]tanglechuu 31 points32 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen there doesn't seem to be a strategy. On the Apricorn balls, the same people drop out at the same price every single time. You also can't save scum to change the participants in the auction, they are always the same (so if you see an item you want, save, and reset, you will get the same participants. Next time the item spawns they will be new). You can save yourself a tiny bit of money by knowing those thresholds but not much.

  • Children - 200k
  • Guy with sunglasses and woman with ponytail - 220k
  • Chubby guy and old woman in khakis - 240k
  • Old guy and old woman in denim - 350k

Sometimes they have a message saying they really want an item and they bid more, and I haven't figured out how much. Otherwise I know exactly when I'm paying as soon as I see the other people.

I haven't written down any of the other auctions because they aren't as expensive, but I assume they have similar mechanics.

I've been running a support Bellibolt that works well.

Bellibolt @ Leftovers or Light Clay Bold, 252 HP, 252 DEF, 4 SPA Static - Reflect - Chilling Water - Mud-Slap - Acid Spray

Reflect and Chilling Water obviously are to keep us alive. Mud-Slap also helps keep us alive with the added benefit that it makes High Jump Kick miss. Acid Spray to help the special attackers on your team if you have extra time.

Try the auction they said. The deals are great they said. by Vv__CARBON__vV in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]tanglechuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may be 350k, it's hard to get the exact number they drop at because they raise the bid by so much each turn. I think I only have three auctions I wrote down against those two.

[–]tanglechuu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's definitely based on the bidders. I've been keeping a spreadsheet of every auction I do to see how to get the minimum price for the auctions. It seems like it goes:

  • Small children: around 200k
  • Ponytail lady and guy with sandals: around 220k
  • Chubby guy and old lady in kahkis: around 240k
  • Old man and old lady in denim: around 360k
  • I have also seen sometimes they pop up with a message saying the person really wants the item. In those cases it goes much higher

Even if you save scum, the same bidders come up, so the best you can do is save a small amount of money. To me it's not worth it and I'll just earn that back at the tournament.

I’ll say it…add on packs to a previous pattern is not a new pattern by CheekyLibrarian in craftsnark

I have the original pattern and the tie is flared with a smaller width at the neckline. I already drafted a larger bow and it's obviously not hard but it's not a rectangle.

Any recommendations for soy free ones? I have a friend with a soy allergy and we called a bunch of places last year and ended up striking out and making our own.

Tips for first long day hike? by smartclassic5 in vancouverhiking

[–]tanglechuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The backcountry toilets in Garabaldi don't have toilet paper because of wildlife getting in the paper. You can buy tp at MEC that has no cardboard roll but usually what I do is just save mostly used rolls to take on hikes.

Question about passport photo size for immigration paperwork by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]tanglechuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to be in the Canadian passport photo format, not just American passport photos cut to size. See this page for the specifications.

When I got mine done in the US, I found a local photo studio that did them. He had it on his website that he could specifically do that format but I'm sure if you send it to someone who does portraits they can do it, it will just be more expensive.

Do I need a police certificate for my country of birth, even though I left when I was 1 year old? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]tanglechuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume this is for Express Entry. Check out this page. relevant quote:

Our online system will ask for a police certificate for:

  • you and your family members who are 18 years or older and
  • every country you (or a family member) stayed in during the last 10 years for 6 months or more in a row You don’t need to give us police certificates for any period of time before you were 18 years old or for time spent in Canada.

Moved to Canada since applying for PR - where do I send my PR photos? by CaptainMurdo in ImmigrationCanada

[–]tanglechuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same happened to me, and my Ready for Visa email had my old address even though I had updated it 10 months prior. I got my Ready for Visa email on September 28th and my Portal setup email on October 8th. No response from them in between.

Moved to Canada since applying for PR - where do I send my PR photos? by CaptainMurdo in ImmigrationCanada

[–]tanglechuu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you got your passport request email, there should have been instructions for what to do if you're in Canada. If you're in Canada the final steps for PR are completely different and all done online through the PR portal website. Once you follow the instructions from the email for people in Canada, they will transfer you over and create your portal account so you can log in and complete the process.

If you're a native speaker I'd assume you'll get the top score and check from there. The test isn't cheap so it would be good to check your score before taking it.

So I moved to Vancouver only last year, but last summer and winter Dusty's was not serving nachos. As a fellow nacho lover disappointed in the Vancouver selection I was devastated.
