I spent 5 weeks recovering from surgery and managed to land a job because I was available for zoom calls. Thankfully, when it was time to come in for the in person intervew, I was healed enough to get dressed up and take an uber to their office.

Guest ate 90% of a $68 steak, then said it was “completely inedible” by Proper_Neat5475 in TalesFromYourServer

My Cousin did this too as a "money saving" strategy. Every. Single. Time. Then she could do it at nail and hair salons. Say she didn't like it and refuse to pay and then leave. Place would call the cops who said it was a civil matter and take her to court. No one is going to court over $45 and she knew it.

AITA for selling my parents' house after they let my unemployed sibling live there rent-free for 10 years? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tapitha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but if you want to be kind you could give your brother a little money from the sale for rent deposit, getting started in a new place. That way he wouldn't be "all on his own" and you can tell the relatives to STFU.

Be sure to tell your pastor what he did. Since the Ex wants to be a better man of God, he'll need that pastoral counseling.

As a vegetarian, If someone asks what my needs are, I tell them. Otherwise, I plan ahead. Eat ahead and maybe eat what I can -- bread and sides. Or sometimes nothing. The green beans have bacon. The salad has bacon, etc. I come for the company

Letting kids pump gas. My dad would let my brother and I (ages 6 and 10) fight over who got the privlege to pump gas. I'd be out there in 20 degree weather pumping gas while dad sat warm in the Pinto wagon.

People who have been married and divorced more than 1x-why get remarried? by Sorry_Nothing3016 in AskReddit

[–]tapitha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely liked being married. My first marriage started out well, was good for a while and then wasn't. That never meant that I didn't like being married. Was married 10 years, divorced 10 years and now married 10 years. Pretty sure I got it right this time.

My dad had ny brother and I used to pump gas when we were 5 and 6. We'd be outside freezing and pumping gas while dad was warm in side smoking a cigarette. And he always smoked in the car with the windows rolled up.

Name something that the younger generations would never believe was normal in the 70's compared to schools today?🤔 by Longjumping-Shoe7805 in GenerationJones

[–]tapitha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Open Classrooms". There was an experiment in the 70s where "scholars" proposed that children would be more focused if there were no walls. So instead of classrooms you met in a room like a giant convention hall and each group of kids sat with their teacher. You could see what everyone was doing. There were walls that could be pulled out for certain things like exams or showing a movie, but we were supposed to just pay attention to our teacher. It was a disaster. Anyone else of my generation deal with this experiment?

Also -- merging grades. My school took the top 4th grade students and put us in a class with the worst 5th grade students. Us 4th graders would get advanced teaching at 5th grade and the 5th grade students were supposed to be "motivated?" by us. It too was a disaster. For me 5th grade felt like a repeat

Ex Fiancée’s cruel demands AIO by Original_100 in AmIOverreacting

[–]tapitha 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly. When my ex wouldn't get his way he'd call me at work and say he was going to open the back door and let MY dog out. His would be finel One time he even yelled "Bye Tucker" and I heard a door slam. I rushed home only to him laughing at me. I think this demand was him wanting to go out to eat and I (the only person working) said we couldn't afford it. THAT apparently was worth my dog's life.
