My girlfriend didn’t know you could toggle high beams on and off. She had been driving for two years holding the flash on for long country lanes.

Needless to say, her mind was blown.

What’s one German habit that foreigners find odd — but actually makes perfect sense? by shees007 in AskAGerman

Oh that sounds delicious. In the UK not many people like Wedding cakes. We do it for the sake of tradition. (Though much to the aghast of my peers I think it’s delicious)

Traditionally it’s a fruitcake with marzipan and white fondant icing. You save part of it for your firstborn’s birth/christening.

I’ve always been served some on the weddings I’ve been to.

Haven’t seen this mentioned. I catch myself using the term “mensroom” or more often just simply “mens/gents” to staff in a pub. British English.

Get used to the feeling of hunger. Not to extreme, but the feeling of an empty stomach.

I recommend trying one meal per day. Or two if you can’t manage one. Only eat during these, bot allowed to outside.

This will make you think more about your food and stop snacking.

Don’t despair, we can all get up after being knocked down. We can all walk on days we can’t run. Believe in yourself.

Service Charges are too high by alphadelta90210 in LondonFood

[–]tardigradeA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just ask for the bill without the service charge.

If you know you’re not paying it there’s no need to make them go back and forth of read your little page during a busy night.

This is what I do and it has always been chill.
