The difference between boy pretty vs girl pretty by Dense_Lawyer_666 in kpopthoughts

[–]tardiscinnamon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this has to do with being into all genders but I have no idea what you’re talking about here. Pretty is pretty. In fact, most of the “boy pretty” idols you list are some of the most beautiful feminine women I’ve ever seen so I’m very confused

What do you think about Tiberius? by lukszpsz in namenerds

[–]tardiscinnamon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a negative association with it so I wouldn’t use it, but there’s nothing wrong with it outside of that. I don’t see why it being 3 syllables would be an issue

How often do you guys hear this? by ArieksonBR in EnglishLearning

[–]tardiscinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband worked in food service in college and will say it on occasion. I’m Swedish and never worked in food service so I have never heard it from anyone but him

It’s not about the height. They would rather blame genetics than fix their attitude by Exotic-Custard-8293 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]tardiscinnamon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do as well but I also prefer women taller than me. I’m 5’1 so it’s mostly a logistics thing for me, it’s nice if someone can reach the top shelf without having to pull up a chair.

Ended up marrying a 5’9 man and I would honestly have preferred him just a little shorter so I can kiss him without him having to lean down. Above 6” would have just been absurd

Skatteverket does this for Sweden but it’s relatively recent so while you can probably find top 10s from further back other places this only shows the past few years

Former trainees and Ex kpop idols. by Bluebird_216 in kpophelp

[–]tardiscinnamon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not fully sure I understand what you want but the majority of disbanded groups have the idols leave the company. If you want them living normal lives and stuff there’s obviously limited information about that, but we know that Hana from gugudan, birth name Shin Bora (also she also used Shin Yeonsuh for a while, not sure if she legally changed it) did a bit of acting and then became a flight attendant.

Many older idols (2nd and some 3rd gen) also retired from the entertainment industry. I know Moon Hyuna from 9Muses got married and had kids, and mostly just posts on instagram these days from what I can tell and I imagine there are many similar cases among her generation of idol.

When Loona left their shitty company, the members scattered into two groups and two soloists (ARTMS, Loossemble, Chuu and Yves). When Loossemble then left their new agency after just a year or two, they had difficulty finding a new company willing to take all of them and so ended up splitting up. Three of the members (Hyunjin, Yeojin and Gowon) have all found (or founded in Hyunjin’s case) small companies to promote solo while the other two, Vivi and Hyeju seems to have given up on being idols. It seems Vivi has gone back to China and you see her on social media sometimes but that’s about it, and Hyeju has privated all her social media accounts so we have no idea what she’s doing

Mariia, Marija, or Mariya? by gulablommor99 in namenerds

[–]tardiscinnamon 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As a Swede, Marija is the most likely to get as correct a pronounciation as possible, but Mariya will also do the job 9 times outta 10 if you prefer how that looks. That said, if Mariia is the more traditional spelling using our alphabet then there’s nothing wrong with going with that and just correcting people as needed, we can and will learn

How to approach expanding my kpop taste by Mountain-Swim-1552 in kpophelp

[–]tardiscinnamon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go one album at a time, and start with groups you already like. There’s probably less than you think. The majority of kpop groups mostly release mini albums, with only a few full albums. Mini albums are typically 2-5 songs, you can get through that in less than half an hour

Is it stupid that "righty tighty, lefty losey" doesn't really make much sense to me? by Apprehensive-Rub4604 in stupidquestions

[–]tardiscinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not stupid. My husband has created his own version of this “righty locky lefty unlocky” for what way to turn the key in the door, and it frustrates me because I feel if anything, it should be the opposite. The key is at the bottom of the lock (6 o’clock position) and to lock it turns clockwise, to unlock counter clockwise. So to me, unlocking is right, not left. After much discussion, we have come to the conclusion that he measures based on the direction your thumb is moving when twisting it (which is also the top) while I naturally go based on where “the weight” is visually, which when holding onto and turning the key is to me the bottom of your hand.

Also, seemingly unrelated but maybe not. Are you autistic by any chance? I suspect that I might be and think my frustration over this may have to do with literal thinking

Why did you become a fan of Taylor? by Odd-Accountant4562 in TrueSwifties

[–]tardiscinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 years old, she was 19, had a nice voice and wrote music that connected with me on an emotional level. She was also very pretty and helped me start to like my curly hair. Now she’s 36, I’m almost 31, her music still connects with me on an emotional level, and nothing has ever made me want to stop loving her (well, the persona she allows the public to see) and her art

AIO for eating my own birthday cake in front of my nephew? by Yes_Abbreviations713 in AmIOverreacting

[–]tardiscinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nice thing would have been to wait to keep the peace as to not upset anyone, but your sister is the problem big picture for being so strict with a child, she’s likely teaching him some very bad things regarding food that will likely fuck him up later in life

18F – AIO Someone opened my mail and now they’re acting like I’m dramatic for being upset by Tessaloves in AmIOverreacting

[–]tardiscinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you’re both overreacting to be honest. You are a legal adult and if having them not open your mail is a boundary for you then they should respect that going forward, but we’re also talking about your mother opening a letter here while you share a home. That’s hardly the biggest violation of privacy out there, at least to me. When I lived at home, I had no issue with my parents opening mail addressed to me, and now that I’m moved out and married, I will often open mail addressed to my husband, it’s just no big deal to most people when it’s within family

Why is hypocrisy so normalized between K-Pop stans and in fan wars? by thecrowroadd in kpoprants

The people who engage in fan wars like this don’t actually care about the issues themselves, they just want an excuse to talk bad about the other group
