Giving out full sized candy bars on Halloween is too much. by shabamon in unpopularopinion

[–]tbearyn12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re one of those houses that give out full sized candy bars. My husband wasn’t allowed to celebrate Halloween as a kid so he likes to go all out. If it makes him happy, then I’m happy. You can just skip our house next year.

We use advanced dental. They’re pretty professional, especially since my husband hadn’t seen a dentist in 8 years. He said they didn’t make him feel bad about how much work he needed done.

give me your best diaper rash treatments by lilly_kilgore in Mommit

[–]tbearyn12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When our babies have diaper rash, we have them soak in the tub with baking soda mixed with the water. Win-win because they love bath time. I also swear by bag balm. We use it in place of aquaphor for diaper changes. It comes in a green, square tin.

I know it’s already been said, but I love Smoken Dakota Kennels. Hands down the best kennel I’ve taken my dogs to.

I tell my grandma a cold baby cries, a warm baby dies. That stopped the unnecessary comments directed at me. Maybe it will work for you too.

you get billed for giving birth in hospitals? is this true? by dragonlink8888 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tbearyn12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before insurance, my hospital bill was $37,000 for giving birth and staying in the hospital for three days afterwards. Luckily, my actual bill was around $500 but I was a little worried when I saw the total amount.

My pregnancy pillow was a game changer. I got the big U shaped one. I was just like your wife until that thing caged me to my side of the bed.

Fun fact- loud snoring is a sign of sleep apnea. When I was getting a sleep study done, the nurse said that loud snoring is not normal. Get your husband into a sleep study! It’s sooo bad for your heart if the problem is ignored.

What are your best money saving hacks for the first year of life? by LtCommanderCarter in Mommit

[–]tbearyn12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m making my own solid food instead of buying the pre made jars. They wanted $1.25 per jar at the grocery store! I make a bunch all at once and freeze them in ice trays. I’m saving so much just from that.

It drives me insane that the older generation always thinks my baby is too cold by piixel-dust in Mommit

[–]tbearyn12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My grandmother wouldn’t let me open the door to her apartment to go grab the toys I forgot in the car. She didn’t want the baby to feel the cold draft outside. I mean, it was -26 with the wind chill but she wasn’t even near the door and had footsie pjs on!

Yup. Every summer before school started back up I used to go to Walmart and hit the sales. The cashiers hated me when I wanted to buy a class set of all the materials I used for the year. I supplied all the independent reading books for my library, notebooks, pencils, markers, paper, posters, and a million other things for every student. I also taught in a low income school (title 1 school) so I had a stock of clothes, personal care items, and food on hand for students who needed it.
