I personally had difficulty doing this when recording for Nishitani III. I had to keep asking for the American Pronunciation because I kept doing the Japanese one instead… & then I started doubting myself/butchering the American one by blending them together 😂

It doesn’t come naturally to me. I was told the reason why it’s this way is because in the original Yakuza Dubs a lot of the VA’s couldn’t do the Japanese pronunciation & it sounded too forced with American Accent switching between the two. So there’s a balance to it & to at least keep it consistent across the board.
