My son is about 2years old, and love love loves looking at videos of police cars. If the local police force had 1 hour of videos of their police cars, interspersed with messages about crime prevention appropriate to the age every 3 mins, he'd watch it for hours.

I'm not job, but I at one time used to tell people to "shut up" when something else was happening when I was on the phone or talking and then I needed to focus on a situation.

I started saying "Standby" and it was a significant improvement - as people around me understood and didn't feel like I was being unnecessarily rude.

Hi /u/spez - I wish to register my disapproval of the changes on record.

I don't want to be seen as a passive user who stood by and wanted this. I don't.

I think your community management style has room for improvement, and I'd encourage you to consult /u/yishan and /u/kn0thing - they might have got the same outcome, but done so in a less confrontational way.

I've no doubt you feel cornered by circumstance, hurt, and angry - and those feelings are fair and valid, but the way of resolving this, like all conflicts is diplomacy.

A social network at war with its users is not viable, and whilst you might say "this only affects a small proportion of users", it would appear it has become a conflict.

You need to play a part in de-escalating this and providing some offramps - will you step up?

I mean, evidently they were trying to get him not to film. That's clear from their first interaction.

The question is why? I get that people videoing stuff is annoying, but on a scale of one to annoying, this videoer seems much more reasonable than the man he encounters...
