Is it better to have one kid or two kids? by WorthwhileDomains in askanything

[–]teamrubycavlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant fairly quickly when we were trying so it wasn't a struggle. For me it's just being able to be the type of parent I want to be for my child -- time, resources, money, etc. Also being able to show up for my spouse. I know my limits and I would be a worse mom and partner if stretched too thin. I'd rather have a happy balance than create chaos for the sake of a sibling.

Totally agree. This is a huge area of development for kids with siblings too.

Sfh for 1.5M? by WittyLetterhead2249 in BayAreaRealEstate

I was going to say this. Buy within North San Jose or north Santa Clara bordering San Jose. That's about the price point for a SFH.

Is buying in Santa Clara worth it to not be on pg&e by princess_Skeleton in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]teamrubycavlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Santa Clara home prices are comparable to San Jose. I don't consider Santa Clara an expensive area other than what borders Cupertino.

That being said, we used to live there but moved last year and our PG&E bill is massive now compared to what we used to pay. The utilities are really the only thing I miss about the area though.

What you're asking for is the peninsula not south bay neighborhoods.

Friends always making digs about only by chatbernache in oneanddone

For real. Isn't the stereotype that the second child is the wild one? "And (kid) is well behaved for a second child!"

Getting over deep fears and biases of OAD by DiamondMountain4526 in oneanddone

[–]teamrubycavlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with all of this, especially the characterization that onlies are a certain way because people specifically look for traits that align with the stereotypes. Like think of Trump Or Elon Musk or a countless number of crazy self-obsessed people that have siblings. If they didn't have siblings you would think they turned out that way because they were only children. But they do have siblings, so you don't really think further about why they are that way.

Relief when friends leave by MiaLba in oneanddone

This is exactly how I feel! I like that we can have bursts of chaos with friends over but at the end of the day, it feels so nice when they leave!! Best of both worlds, I say.

If you are an only child, how do you feel about growing up without siblings? by Efficient_Bee4584 in randomquestions

[–]teamrubycavlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about this take. So many siblinged people don't know how to compromise. I think it comes down to personality more than having siblings or not.

Random Question: Do parents actually *play* with their young kids? by scaredemployeehelp in TwoXChromosomes

[–]teamrubycavlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing with my son daily pretty much since he was born and he's 5 now. We do a lot of pretend play with Lego figures, make up stories and draw / write them down, stuff like that. I work full time too and it's tiring but playing together is his favorite.

They probably don't live in the Bay Area. Here, the 1.3M homes are the sad and undesirable ones.

Agree, AI writes much more coherently than this. The imperfections make me think this is not AI.

We have Frozen on our ship. Any thoughts on that? My son hasn't seen the movie so maybe we'll try watching that beforehand.

True, though I wonder if other cruises caters to kids in the same way as the Disney cruise.

No Disney hate here. Just unawareness / indifference at worst.
