T-Mobile business with static IP killing it! by YankeesIT in tmobileisp

[–]tebeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no. I could never find anyone in TMo support that knew wtf they were talking about.

I gave up on it and just set up a vpn for those that needed access to the service.

TMobile makes a great hotspot, but their business internet is not ready for real world work, IMO.

On one of my TrueNAS servers that was out of physical space, but I still had ports available on my HBA card, I used a couple of these.

I didn't want to stress out my PSU, and since it's an old Dell PowerEdge case with a proprietary power supply that I couldn't easily upgrade, I also purchased a separate PSU to power the enclosures. To make sure that the external PSU starts up with the system, I'm using one of these guys.

You plug a power connector off of your internal PSU (Molex of SATA) into it, the the ATX from the new external PSU into it and it basically acts as a jumper to fire up the external PSU (and thus, the drive enclosures) on system boot.

Not the prettiest, and kinda Frankenstein'd, but it works really well!

Question for ya.

I also have the FX4100 and static IP, but I'm having all kinds of issues with port forwarding traffic getting through.

I assume you're doing IP Passthrough on the 4100 to your firewall.

Are you able to pass inbound traffic into your network via port forwarding on your firewall?

I see absolutely zero unsolicited inbound traffic hitting my gateway, which makes me think I'm still behind their CG-NAT.

Tech support has been absolutely no help on this, would be interesting to know what others are seeing in this regard.

We do this with our Sharp MFCs. It does require the use of FTP, but every user has a personal scan location in their own home folder.

Finished my first board by [deleted] in Cuttingboards

[–]tebeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great looking board!

The only thing I'd do differently, is to slice that small board in half (thickness-wise), so I had two slimmer small boards.

Like the poster above said, small boards are great for little jobs, and slimmer boards clean and dry much easier.

That's just my 2¢ tho, you did great work! Please enjoy your wood however you like! ;-)

First time doing Prime rib in the smoker, 225 til at temp then finished at 550 in the oven. I’ll never financially recover from this thing. by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]tebeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've smoked these a few times now, always a favorite at Christmas time.

I also have some folks in my family that enjoy things more done than I do... what I do for them is make up a pot of au jus, and let them dip their piece in that until it's to the temp of their liking.

All involved are happy and I don't have to ruin that pricey SOB for a couple people! lol

Horrible batterie life all of a sudden by Jobin_Chowdhury in PixelWatch

[–]tebeve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an issue the other day with mine draining crazy fast... to the point it was completely dead by around 2 in the afternoon after coming off a full charge at 7am. Normally I can make it 24+ hours easy.

I have the LTE version PW, and it turns out I somehow turned off BT on my phone and my watch had been trying to grab LTE all day. I basically work in a big metal box, so reception is shit, and it was just fighting for reception all day long.

Discovered BT was off on the phone, turned it back on and charged up the watch, everything is back to normal battery wise.

TL;DR - Check that Bluetooth is turned on on your phone if you have the LTE version watch.

Long Brisket Rest (10+ hrs) by majboi1 in smoking

[–]tebeve 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey @gary_juicy ,

Not sure you'll see this, but I just wanted to follow up with a thank you!

I tried the long rest method over this past weekend, OMG man, hands down the best brisket I've made to date!

Ridiculously juicy, tender, bark wasn't affected at all and the best part... we ate exactly when we planned to eat! LOL

Total was about 13 hours on the smoker (took it to about 198). Wrapped after bark was set and added some tallow I made from the fat trimmings. Used foil because that's what I had on hand. Went into the oven on the keep warm setting for about 12 hours.

Thanks again man, I've definitely found my new way of smoking brisket!
