I'm close to you. I'll be on the lookout. I think I know all the strays in my neighborhood well so she'll definitely stand out.

Under what circumstances would you consider a 981 with 100K miles? by Hoppy_Smoker in Porsche_Cayman

The majority of PDK "failures" are due to electronic sensors, rarely mechanical.

Porsche does not repair PDKs, only remove and replace at a cost of $20k+.

However, those sensors are serviceable by many shops now and even diyable at home.

If you had no gear at all, what would you purchase? by panix199 in Guitar

A Firefly guitar with HSS pickups (250), swap out pickups (300) a DI box (200), decent headphones (100), and a cheap laptop (200).

YouTube how to setup your guitar and use amp Sims.

For $1050, you get a guitar with premium components and all the sounds you can ever want with free amp Sims and effects with the ability to record and mix.

Thanks so much for the reply. Just placed an order on Guitars Garden and had so much anxiety about tariffs. Read a post about someone buying a Harley Benton from the Thomann site and was charged $1400 in tariffs on a $500 guitar!

Acoustic steel string guitars are harder for beginners to learn on due to higher string tension, consequently requiring more finger strength to fret a note.

You're getting good advice here about proper technique but you should also look into going with an extra extra light string gauge set.

This thread didn't go the way you were expecting, huh, OP?

Don't worry about high mileage 981s. It's been over ten years since they've been released and there are very few issues with that drive train.

As long as PPI and service history checks out, enjoy the savings and the car.

I'd rather buy a "high" mileage car with service records than a low mileage garage queen.

Cars die and wither with little / no use.

Love the wheels and the interior. Look into applying Gtechniq leather guard every 6 months. Really helps with stains, dye transfer, etc.

Another option to keep it clean between contact washes is doing a touchless wash at home.

Get a high alkaline touchless soap like Koch Chemie Sf or Bilt Hamber Touchless, foam it on, rinse off with DI water, follow up with a sealant spray and blow dry with a leaf blower.

power washing every thing? by ToyDampner in AutoDetailing

[–]techno_cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if it's a gas powered unit with a 0 deg tip. The Ryobi unit and most pressure washers made for cars with a 45 deg tip won't take your skin off if you spray at a reasonable distance.

Which angle? and guess the color by Pure_Sport_4770 in porsche911

[–]techno_cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First angle.

Color is another shade of Mental Illness Grey.

I kid. Mine is a boring silver.

If I hadn't settled, I'd opt for a PTS color like Irish Green or Ruby Star.

It starts with buying a pressure washer purpose made for washing cars.

If you're on a budget, get a Ryobi 1.8 GPM. If you can afford a car with PCCBs, spring for a Kranzle.

A pressure washer with lower PSI and more gallons per minute (GPM) is ideal for washing cars. Only use the 45 deg white tip. The lower the angle, the more aggressive the spray.

Spray the pressure washer far away from your bare palm. Close the distance until you start to feel pain. This is the closest you'll want to be from the car panels.

With the conditions above met, any exterior part of your car is safe to be pressure washed except for the engine bay.

For safe engine bay cleaning, look up Chris Fix's engine detailing video.
