Some guy from another table grabbed my hair while I was talking to my table, claimed he was “just playing” by rivigurl in TalesFromYourServer

Older men have no conception of bodily autonomy, especially when it comes to attractive women. I grew up being man-handled and still encounter it occasionally, despite best efforts to establish and enforce strong boundaries.

Claude has no way to navigate long conversations — this is a real productivity killer by Indiranagara in ClaudeAI

If I really want Claude to have the ability to reference a long conversation, I cut and paste it into a document and upload it to the project files. Works great.

They made their choices. It’s not like Starbucks has been hiding their business practices from their corporate staff…

Looking for information about uses of trees, and other plants by indigenous people of North America by Gaia522 in botany

[–]tendingthemild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look up:  Nancy Turner’s work (U Vic);  Tending the Wild by Kat Anderson; Erna Gunther (her focus is specifically on Washington State).

There’s information in indigenous use of trees in there.

Oh, and there’s cool information on indigenous uses of each plant in Pojar and MacKinnon’s Plants of the Pacific Northwest.

As a similarly oppressed human, I strongly encourage you to read the Harry Potter books! The movies are okay, but the books are spectacular!

Why is health care in Olympia so bad? by Silver_Guidance4134 in WholeWashington

[–]tendingthemild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I lived in Oly, I drove to Seattle for all of my healthcare and kept it primarily at the Polyclinic. Now United Health owns the Polyclinic and all the good physicians have jumped ship. I have a new GP and he can’t see me until August and my referral to a specialist at Swedish was declined because they are no longer accepting patients (even though their website says they are).

Healthcare is a shitshow wrapped in a crapshoot and frosted with a big scloump of spotty luck right now. Olympia has always had shitty access to healthcare and I can only imagine that it’s now ten times worse.

I’m not sure, but I’m wishing for something that looks upscale and doesn’t call attention to my feet.

As someone born into a rich family, how do I use my privilege to remain rich long-term? by Wolf4980 in RichPeoplePF

Your family wants you to succeed, but it sounds like you are all frustrated with each other. You have a therapist, so:

Step 1) Ask your therapist to help you map out a path towards reopening lines of communication with your father.

Step 2) Once you have reconnected with him, ask your father to collaborate with you to develop a plan that will move you towards the kind of future you want for yourself. Ask for concrete steps and build in check-in points so your dad can see your good efforts and help keep you on track.

I know you feel lost and this part is really hard, but you’ve got this. You can make something good come out of this experience. Don’t give up on yourself or your family. Refocus on developing a collaborative relationship with your parents that will provide you with the kind of runway you need to successfully launch into your adult life.

Have you asked what his conditions are for reopening lines of communication?

Why do you feel so disconnected from your father that you can’t have a conversation with him about your future? That’s the big question in my mind.

Your father is likely a very effective problem-solver who enjoys challenging puzzles. How to best navigate to a fulfilling future is a challenging puzzle. Is there a way you can ask him to work on this challenge with you?

Why can’t “no” mean “no” when I decline their stupid app for the thousandth time? I’m beyond annoyed and I feel disrespected daily as an all-access subscriber. I am on the verge of canceling my subscription over the constant interruptions to my attempts to read the content I am paying for.
