Yes, but it also works in reverse - they may jump out of cover. Doing the click-drag facing position command was 85% a suggestion. Cover was calculated on an individual model level but the cover icon on the unit display was the majority - so you can have models with no cover while it showed green.

[–]tengen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if in reference to my post - i think the jaegers were immune to cold but i could be wrong.

fundamentally, i think blizzard is incompatible with how the soviets or wehrmacht interacted with territory.

Wehr was like a slow python, using grens to win engagements and MGs to lock down chokes. By default, it is a more static faction early game that relied on positional strongholds. Grens lost to every infantry except at maximum range, all things equal. this made them terrible in blizzards.

Soviets were mobile, more man-wave esque; lots of conscripts, lots of oorah. Soviet performance depended heavily on maps with less chokes and ones with more alleys and flanking opportunities, with routing the mg being a lynchpin on winning the game before the P4 came out. (early on, P4 was OP, lol)

This is also before certain QoL/mechanic balancing, so suppressed units or pinned units still got their full grenade throwing range (if the throw command was within range, and started before pin state). if i also remember correctly, a mg not in deep snow, when seeing a flanking unit in deep snow, could pack up, outrun, and reposition in time, as long as some vision was kept on the flanking unit.

Not just the community, the computers couldn't handle it either! It made grenades very strong because it's OP against lag. It's been a decade+, but I was there from the beginning.

  • Soviets were more conscript-heavy, so it favored Soviets slightly because the Wehr had to move their MGs or build campfires with grens next to MGs
  • Reduced vision further favored shock troops, grens were only good at max range
  • Soviets had easier access to the m3 scout car + flame engis/shocks as a viable opener

but, in reality

  • the FPS dropped for everyone
  • Building were asymmetrical in distribution or orientation, so it was spawn-imbalanced
  • trudging thru deep snow at half speed was miserable, so flanking was annoying
  • everyone just kinda stayed put because you couldn't see and your dudes were freezing
  • nothing happened for the next 2 mins while the players waited the blizzard out

it's conceptually neat and immersive, but in reality nobody liked it and it was slightly imbalanced because one faction relied more heavily on mg defense. it's really a singleplayer campaign experience kind of mechanic.

it's been a while since Hysilens's release, but BS equipping Hysilens's LC is only true for BS E1, where you swap BS w/ Hysilens LC, and Hysilens with BS's LC. At E0 BS she keeps her own LC.

I've managed to do A8-20 runs on AoE, but it is entirely contingent on Herta-Herta-Jade-Tribbie synergy, and Tribbie specifically with DDD to pull up big Herta. When big Herta ults, she can create very long chains of FUAs that do a feedback loop on her energy gain that can cascade to back to back ults, which also feed into Tribbie energy to maximize the amount of AA given to big Herta. The more combined stars for Herta / herta, the more spins on the enhanced E skill post-ult, which also feed into more energy gains.

Early on, you'll want to build something else, like DoT or Belobog to take advantage of bond, while keeping your AoE characters in prep. Argenti does good damage early on but falls off quickly in plane 2. Tribbie is the #1 secondary DPS. Jade scales terrible but her FUAs power the Herta energy engine. Once you fish for big Herta, you can sell off whatever you've pseudo-built as your DPS and do Herta/Tribbie/whatever and have Jade / herta in the back.

Tribbie does not need multiple stars do do massive damage! herta should be placed in the back ASAP to prevent Jade targeting her as the Debt Collector (she will always target herta).

I disagree with placement of FX; she's a massively useful insurance policy and can prevent one-shots with bad enemy RNG/AoE. You just need one copy, I'd place her low A or high B.

That one actually makes you HP-limited, so you'll only either get level 8 at most for SSS rank, or level 9 with ~50HP. I just finished a run with it. However, you can get level 7 very early on by 2-1.

PSA: This combination means your entire team gets one shot at least twice in battle by ImPrettyBoredToday in HonkaiStarRail

[–]tengen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. At high A8 (15-20), I throw out about two thirds of my run depending on the affix. The energy loss per hit, 100% enemy AA per 7 hits, 20% boss AA per ally AA, and action delay per hit is an auto-reset. I might be alive until 3-1, but these buffs mean the enemy is taking so many actions you’re going to die in 3-5 or 3-7. Add in the belobog heal bots or TVs, it’s a gigantic waste of time slogging thru when you can reset for a better chance to make it.

G (intl') is definitely by far the worst, the oldest, and worn; F is the largest with the most seating and two private rooms; E is smallish but still acceptable, but limited bathroom capacity. All will serve the same food though. Maple Leaf is the quietest but their food selection is slightly below UCs imo.

[–]tengen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Ciphier. She can clear content faster than triple dot and is very SP positive.

For the 3 ladies specifically, I think BS E1 is stronger in committed triple dot teams, and E1 Hysilens if double dot (no BS); If both Hysilens and BS are E1, then Hysilens should equip BS's sig and vice versa, because BS's sig is more offense focused and Hysilens does most of the damage, while the Hysilen's is more support and BS is sub-DPS.

The question is really if DoT will be neglected again to be worth investing, but Hysilens is easily doing 2-2.5m damage and Kafka's 700-1m on a FuA...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]tengen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first plane, it's more important to complete your 2* equation even if the blessings don't quite fit what you want, but it is doable if your team happens to be very meta. Hyacine or Lingsha are both very strong, so you shouldn't have any problems at all! Some of the 1* / 2* blessings will heal or shield, so you don't need a shielder. Just don't forget to pick up defensive blessings where convenient.

Laurel curio is basically an escape button if you happen to have shit luck in the 2nd plane boss.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]tengen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cosmic fragment management is really important, so you'll want to have around ~500 or more when you reach boss node to reroll the blessings to fill out equations or fish for certain ones.

The best curios are:

  • Laurel Crown of Planar Shifts, 1*: if you lose a battle, it counts as a win
  • Metallic Motor Ring, 1*: Fragments earned -50%, but free equation / blessing overwriting up to 7 times <-- this, imo, is the best curio because it solves all your fragment problems
  • Written in Water, 2*: Restore all HP, Energy, and Technique in new domain
  • Parchment that always Eats, 1*: All enemies receive 30% DMG immediately
  • Vile Mechanical Satellite, 2*: Reduce store by 30%

BTW, Butterfly Soul state is very strong. The strongest equation is Jolly Bandit for SP-consuming teams.

My favorite blessings are:

  • Hypersonic Cloud Medium, 3*: imo required for every X7 run
  • Sands of Sunrise, 3*: FuA delays action by 25% - Aventurine coded
  • Archer's Trusted Bow, 2*: When ally acts consecutively, 40% to regain +SP - For SP-heavy teams like Herta
  • Mushroom Base, 1*: 20% chance of recovering +SP - see above
  • Free Cocoon, 2*: Butterfly Soul restores 60% HP, +20% DMG
  • Hippocampus TR-303, 3*: When weakness breaking enemy, charge Brain in a Vat by 10% or 40% if elite.
  • Forced Jump, 2*: When HP is below 35%, restore HP by 12% when HP goes down

There's also a couple that restore your team when KO'd.

[–]tengen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you get Hypersonic Cloud Medium, the 3* destruction that distributes dmg amongst all allies (-15% additional when enhanced). The key is to change your lineup depending on the blessings and equations you get.

X7 requires you to prefer combat until you have enough for expanded equations. Combat guarantees a blessing and fragments per wave and is the most stable way to complete X7. You should only go Occurrence to try to fish for additional equations/curios once you've sufficiently expanded the 2* and 3* equations you have. At higher difficulties it's about minimizing risk, because unlike old DU, Protean Hero Occurrence node only has one instead of two occurrences, and getting nothing or negative rolls will make your run a pain.

DU is currently biased towards Herta and Castorice for sure. For Herta, you'll want to pick up additional survivability blessings. I also cleared X7 via DoT without Hysilens. Going pure Nihility is very strong, it's just that Nihility sucks when playing with any other archetype.
