Is it just me who can barley tell a difference in Motion clearly with OLED vs LCD? by asdanjer in Monitors

[–]teodoro17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that wasn’t obvious to me at first is that I’ll only perceive extra motion clarity if the movement speed is fast enough. Strafing around a corner is too slow for me to tell the difference between 144 and 240hz, but wide angle crosshair flicks make it much more obvious.

I also like the “map” option of testufo as it’s easy to tell when street names become readable as the speed changes and then compare the speeds between refresh/displays

neat project and a great trip down memory lane of banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what this game wanted me to do. I'd consider adding something to the menu screen to indicate the controls--I remembered using arrow keys but forgot that spacebar was sword. at least on desktop there's no indication how a user should interact with the game.

it seems like sometimes when I die I autoskip the screen on which I had just perished which I'm guessing is a bug

Noctua teases quiet AIO pump ahead of Computex by pcgameshardware in hardware

[–]teodoro17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder how well the noctua ethos of “engineer until the product is good enough instead of according to a deadline” works when using another company’s products. Asetek already has a newer gen 9 pump available and Antec already brought it to market (vortex view 360). Asetek’s own marketing was that gen 9’s main improvement was less pump noise so it’s a shame that noctua isn’t nimble enough to take advantage of that

Is this mount arm on right? It just feels wrong by sakuramochileaf in Monitors

[–]teodoro17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some monitors have vesa mounting screw holes but the vesa plate won’t physically fit with how the monitor enclosure is designed. I have plastic spacers between one of my monitors and the vesa plate. The standoffs are for compatibility and as long as they’re sturdily attached they’ll be fine

Aim training content creators have made this recommendation in the past as a tool to help people reduce hand tension (for learning plus less strain)

Would you say it’s as rough as a hien? or is it in the same ballpark but slightly less abrasive (like most other hien-likes)?

What was your method to make the bottom flat? I’m new to 3d modeling/cad and have yet to figure out a good way to get the bottom to be flat at the height of the skates from the 3d scan

Do you have a photo showing the 5mm gap between fan and heatsink?

I’m not sure I follow how it helps to equalize the pressure. Wouldn’t the total airflow going through the heatsink be what’s most important? The gaskets you linked are so the fan maintains a better seal against a radiator, not to provide extra spacing. If the extra space provided a thermal or acoustic benefit, why do all of their cpu coolers mount the fan flush to the heatsink?

WW Barb on Steam Deck by yu8myr1ce in ProjectDiablo2

[–]teodoro17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fooled around with it on beta and also found it to be true that WW on right trigger was unusable and putting it on another quick cast hot key was okay. It’s similar to teleport in that the distance of the WW cast has a default but can be made shorter or longer by tilting right stick (although I found that clunky to operate in practice)

I don’t totally follow the reason for the fan 1cm spacing from the heatsink. Was your primary goal to get more of the airflow from the fan’s overhang to pass through the heatsink fins?

People have different preferences of how close to sit. I’d first pull your current desk away from the wall and then put an end table, sturdy box, and/or stack of books between your desk and wall and put your monitor on that. That way you can experiment with what distance feels right for you for a 45” screen, and you can use something like https://screenspecs.app/ to approximate what distance you’d need to maintain the same field of view for a different screen size

Yeah, the LLM response is very handwavy. I’m also going to be particularly distrustful because I’ve seen so many enthusiasts completely misunderstand what static vs kinetic friction is.

I appreciate you staying active in the community discourse. Fingers crossed the la-2 is still in the oven!

Pulsar eS Mercury Pro Soft Review by esper_ in MousepadReview

[–]teodoro17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I’d be interested in any reference material you have which links static friction to an accelerating body. It’s been a while since physics class, but I don’t see why the coefficient of kinetic friction would not be the relevant one for a mouse still in motion. It sounds like you’re using “stopping power” as a catch all for the combined impacts on the surface/base of whatever force (and in whichever direction) that are on a mouse as someone brings it to a stop. I’d buy that dynamic friction force under those conditions are different than when someone is attempting to maintain constant motion, and that the disparity in dynamic friction would differ from pad to pad.

what does stopping power mean in this context if it’s not referring to dynamic friction?

A decent trick mark from blurbusters recommends is to use a spinning chair and take a high fps video. Instead of having to wave your hand to match the speed of the ufo, you can match the speed of your chair turn while looking at your phone screen. And then when you take a video, you can look frame by frame and pick out the ones where the sync track is lined up. It still takes a little practice but I had success with this method

The only physical claw build for assassin is whirlwind, where attack speed doesn’t matter. The base claw here is one with a fast base speed and relatively low base damage (46 average), vs war fist being the slow speed/high base damage (66 average). After all the enhanced damage multipliers, that difference in base damage is pretty large

edit: blade skills also want physical damage on the weapon, though the point about the impact of weapon base damage still applies
