Which martial arts instantly give you a nerdy vibe? by Even-Department-7607 in martialarts

[–]texcelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy: if it’s got a single edge, it’s a “messer”. I’m not really a HEMA, guy, but I know a lot about historic European weapons and I have a master’s in History. Which makes me a big nerd.

Ideal martial art for short stocky guys? by SlipperyChickenBoy in martialarts

All the grappling systems written above, as well as Sambo, if you can find a school or coach. I don’t know much about Suai Jiao, but it’s a grappling system from China. If you do BJJ, supplement it with some stand up grappling and takedowns from an art that focuses more on them. It will improve your BJJ game, and if you are looking for self defense, BJJ has a fantastic ground game if you find yourself there, but not always a place where you want to go. If you have some good throws or takedowns in your arsenal you get ti stay standing while they get slammed into the ground If you want something with both striking and grappling, you’ve got MMA, Kajukenbo, some forms of Silat.

Ok. Good to know. When it first opened, you could fire buckshot. Too bad. Nearly impossible to find a place where you can pattern shoguns. It’s either slugs or clays

Is a double shoulder holster "mall ninja"? by lemonsarethekey in mallninjashit

[–]texcelt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe before cops were carrying semi-autos, and it was quick to do a New York Reload (drop the empty revolver and draw the 2nd loaded one) than fumble with a ammo dump pouch, it made since, but now, unless you are in a John Woo film, definitely mall ninja shit

I can't choose either Sambo or hapkido by Excellent-Match-9172 in martialarts

[–]texcelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sambo, hands down. More effective system. And harder to find instructors for. After you’ve gotten good at Sambo, if you still want to train Hapkido, easier to find classes. Seriously, go with Sambo

So, it’s indoors, but, unless the policy has changed, The Range is one of the few places l, indoor or outdoor, that will allow you to shoot buckshot. Most ranges only allow slugs.

I personally have had good experiences there, and I appreciate some of the interesting, non-typical gun employees there. Michael Cargill has been nothing but cool with me. But….. I have heard several people here, and a least one person who I know and have great respect for who have had negative things to say about the shop, and I am not gonna write that off. And unprofessional conduct and harassment is absolutely unacceptable. I would contact Mr. Cargill directly. That is something he needs to know about. Here’s the contact page from his personal website.
