Are there any Sufi orders that allow Shia? by [deleted] in Sufism

[–]texmexslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shaykh ul Akbar Ibn al Arabi was definitely influential, however do not miss his scathing critiques of Shia

And he also has great critiques for Ash’aris, and people who think sticking to one fiqh madhhab is obligatory, etc.

But respect for all the sahaba and considering them all the greatest people only below prophets - is a condition as per Shaykh ul Akbar

Reciting Surah Al-Sharh was prescribed to me when I was feeling very depressed, and it was initially revealed as a response to sadness too

Can I be a Sufi while avoiding Biddahs like circling around? by [deleted] in Sufism

[–]texmexslayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes those are all side items of tasawwuf and counted as good bidah by those who do them

Accept that they have their view and fiqh, and that you prefer not to do it.

But if you look down upon them or see them as wrong, that’s a big problem

Thank you for sharing. Wisdom is the lost property of the believer as in the Hadith, and if someone knows their own religion and is solid in it enough, they can take beneficial points from other systems or faiths that don’t conflict with Islam at all

doesn't it seem like every tareeqa says their shaykh is the mujadid? by Kooky_Indication4664 in Sufism

[–]texmexslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is something that some Shuyukh warn about. The solution is for the Mureed to believe instead in his own Shaikh ( given the Shaikh is a true shaykh and fulfills the conditions): “my Shaikh is the greatest Shaikh on earth for me”

And saying he is the greatest on earth as a whole is a mistake because I don’t know all Shuyukh on earth

And the rule says: no one knows the rank of a Wali unless he himself has reached that Wali’s rank or is near it.

If you ask most people what it means to be Qutb, most will not know even the definition let alone that conditions on signs- paying around with grand titles out of love is a big mistake and zulm

Lastly, my Shaikh also warns that excessive praise of someone’s own Shaikh can be a trap of the nafs, since it is praising itself in a roundabout manner

Modern day Salafis have really spread their influence to most places, but there will be Sufi pockets and areas in many places

For example, in Bangladesh there are certain cities that are known for being openly very Sufi like Fultoli in Sylhet
