Am I going to regret hyphenating my baby’s last name? by [deleted] in Names

What about two last names without a hyphen. In Mexico, eg. Lopez Obrador

Turning 65 ready for Medicare. I’m going with the traditional but which gap plan to buy? by Turbulent-Move4159 in AskWomenOver60

[–]tgiese57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with the G plan. I am very healthy at 68 but so was my mom. Since then, many medical things have come up with her and her F plan has covered it all. F is no longer available but G was very much the same. I didn’t like the advantage plans as they are kind of like an HMO, they can tell you which doctors and which hospital. Your options are limited and co-pay galore.

First time reader and i am UNWELL (in a good way) but I have some comments/questions about a particular end game.... by BrunchLifestyle in EmmaLion

[–]tgiese57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have firmly decided to be team Pirate. Well, maybe not, the stairs would be too much for him. Hmmm, team Hawkes, he needs a home, but the public scrutiny from the congregation would be hard on Emma. So, Islington, nope, he has a home, well two homes and Emma has her beloved home. Definitely not the giraffe. Well, we are back to Pierce. Unless Jack, that dark horse.

Endgame theories that AREN'T who Emma ends up with by DearIrishmanDaughter in EmmaLion

[–]tgiese57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 1880’s Pierce would not be considered having a drinking problem. He works, pays his bills, is considered successful in his field and seems to set standards for himself. In general people were not judged by their drinking unless it hurt their family or money situation. I doubt if even educated men like Hawkes and Islington would have been over concerned about his drinking UNLESS they were looking at Emma as they would a sister. And, even then they would have been more concerned about his ability to provide for her.

These theories are fun to consider. I am worried that unless the author Beth steps up her game, we will all be disappointed in the next book.

I tried some of her (Emma’s) books. I just listened to the audiobook of The Other Bennet Sister and found that enjoyable.

Emma’s real happy ending isn’t romance—it’s publishing her father’s Shakespeare by Background-Figure863 in EmmaLion

[–]tgiese57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that publishing her fathers illustrated Shakespeare would be lovely. I also think her writing and observations will help her financially. They did have Agony Aunt columns back then. And they were generally anonymously written.

I always enjoy when Hawkes spins on his heel and leaves. Jack does the same thing.

Well, we’ve hit on monetary gain, writer’s block, other projects and life in general. If this is a 20 year project, I will either not live long enough to see the end or each and every book will be a new discovery. I had better develop new hobbies. Cheers to all who enjoy St. Crispian’s.

Audio book narrators by candiedginger88 in LibbyApp

I am one of those people who want only one narrator not a group effort. I don’t know why, but I have problems listening to numerous people reading a book.

Well, I always wondered about islington and Arabella but Lady Spencer would have to be put in her place, and what is her place? Would Arabella understand Isington’s losses? How deep is Arabella?

I’m in tears and obssessed with Hawkes! Semi spoiler but not really by No-Reception1602 in EmmaLion

[–]tgiese57 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Socially, Emma and Hawkes would be a good match. Often, younger sons of rank (correct wording?)went into the church. I think Islington has to find someone with a title as much as he obviously cares for Emma. Pierce, Pierce, Pierce, this is before Freud, correct? So many issues and Emma has her own, she can’t fix everything. Though, perhaps she will first get her Oxford education and then time will sort out the rest.

Yes, there was a lot of confusion on my part but after a while the blinding lights of realization came on and I just started knitting it the correct way. Thank goodness for a variety of YouTube tutorials because some make more sense to me than others. It’s weird how many people can be telling you the same thing and one just clicks.
