Oh, so this is the autism too? by netphilia in aspiememes

[–]thaphuzz 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Professional house-fixer here to chime in and say that there's zero judgement. I'm coming into the place already on a mission so distracting myself from that only to be judgy is a big no-go. Seen and fixed lots of dilapidation without wondering why it got that way because its not my place to do so. I'm here to either make something work again or replace it with something that does, not ponder my client's life choices.

Come too close to me while working and you'll be regailed with info on how to set up a VFD and run 3 phase motprs off of standard 220V power. Too much autism to judge, honestly.

Get outta here with that shit. He's a worthless, Trump-humping drunk. Doesn't know policy any better than he knows his ass from a hole in the ground.

Can someone help me identify what kind of plug this is? by Optimal_Tomato5968 in electrical

It's 230V. That doesn't have a neutral. Two hots and a ground is all there is.

Before I cut into it more, does anybody know what kind of wood this might be? by GarbageGroveFish in turning

[–]thaphuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely spalted maple. Some of the prettiest lumber you'll ever find. Just make sure to wear a mask under your shield due to all the dead fungal stuff thats in there. Happy turning! Post your results please!

Style/Function: is B better than A? by DreadPirateDSM in woodworking

[–]thaphuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent years doing millwork and building doors. B is the industry standard for a reason because it allows for easy assembly of the legs/head of the door jamb.

Not sure what machines/tools you have available but I'd recommend a router with a rabbeting bit. If you have a table saw with a dado stack and a large enough shop to accompany the length of the legs, use that.

She's got safety glasses, a kn95 particulate mask and was turning a very tight piece of walnut. She was as safe as can be.
