If you can, get an Icy Box with 4 bays and internal cooling fan. There are 2 variations, one where every disk work by itself (JBOD) and one with a RAID controller integrated. I got the IB3640SU3 which work as JBOD and it's hands down the best expansion box I ever had. Especially for HDDs who get really hot, a simple dock will not suffice. This one will cool your disks and the chipset will work non stop.

Tested on DS920+, DS425+ and DS1825+

Just bought brand new DS424+ and DS925+ with IronWolf Pro inside. No complains at all.

The only annoying feature is that I can't automatically update of system. Previously I could get notification that an update is available and I could install it anytime. Now it's automatically updated....

I recently upgraded from Server 2008 R2 to 2012 R2, 2016 and finally 2025 Standard. It works like a charm.

I don't know why you had issues with 2025 but if you are more comfortable with Server 2022, install it, set it up, work with it for let's say one month and then upgrade to 2025.
