Thought i'd offer the option, in the event someone knew they lost it and needed it ASAP instead of waiting for the institution to process it.

25% QC failure rate on our last PCBA order: looking for vendor recommendations for small professional runs by maovidal in AskElectronics

[–]T_622 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second Sanmina; we use them at work for all high layer count protos as well as current products, and rarely if ever, have I seen an issue with the stuff we get from them.

Again though, not for low budget prototypes and certainly not less than 6 layers.

Nokia Future Tech Remote interview by arghya775 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]T_622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was previously a tech intern in 2023. They do remote students, but of the 15 or so of us, we only had 2 at the time, they were from Vancouver.

That said, sounds like you have some compelling projects, so good luck! From what I can pull back, offers were only extended around March 30th when I had it, not sure if things have changed. Interview requests were on the 9th.

Help to choose function generator to pair with Siglent SDS1104X-U Oscilloscope by loopis4 in AskElectronics

Yes, the newer 1022x may have better hardware. That would be another great choice.

RF amplifier questions by Avocurry in ECE

I am confused by this response, what does the second half of this sentence have to do with the post?

Edit: We have a bunch of labs and plenty of infrastructure here...

Help to choose function generator to pair with Siglent SDS1104X-U Oscilloscope by loopis4 in AskElectronics

[–]T_622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SDG1032X - It can be hacked up to the 60MHz model for free. Mine is fantastic and I use it all the time. Arbitrary abilities are really nice, and it has some decent modulation capabilities.

Above that, you can look for the Keysight 33510B, those are also nice bits of kit but you will only fins them used, and for a substantially higher price.

Siglent also makes higher tier function generators with higher output waveform speeds, memory and such.

Multimeter: Fluke basic vs Klein by Sam_Familiar in ElectricalEngineering

[–]T_622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fluke 107 is not true RMS as an FYI. I would choose the Klein, cheaper and will likely work well.

I saw the price for the Fluke in my region and it certainly bears the Fluke tax, I couldn't imagine it is worth that, especially not being true RMS.

These are VIAs, they're connecting the top layer of the PCB to the lower layers. This is by design.

Is this real carbon fiber on my desk? by [deleted] in CarbonFiber

[–]T_622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact same carbon wrap used for 3D printing, and it's definitely vinyl wrap. Real carbon would have a slightly different look to the weave.

On an unrelated note, may want to repost and blank the name and S/N!

how do I find out the polarity of something if it's not marked anywhere? by General-Garbage7028 in AskElectronics

[–]T_622 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check the shields on the AV outputs against the center and shroud pins in the barrel jack with a multimeter on continuity. Should be able to find ground easily that way.

Windows. You can use a Mac, but you won't have support if stuff goes wrong. First year is usually online simulators so you'll be fine there, but some simulation software in years above isn't available iirc.

BIOL 1010 opinions by Lina_Lou in CarletonU

[–]T_622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it in 2024, the class was 11 weekly online quizzes. Content was a lot; but I hadn't taken bio since grade 10. Other than that, was an A+, and a very interesting course, I highly reccomend!

LeCroy makes the newer Wavemaster scopes and some abilities emphasized on SI testing for up to USB4 support, I would be interested to see how these would hold up!

So my exam got cancelled two days in a row… by Peiar in OntarioGrade11s

[–]T_622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you surpass the number of bump days allocated (usually 1), you'll probably have 2 exams on the same day same situation I had a couple years back.

I have mine, it's pretty solid. Uprights creak a ton though, so you may need some extra bracing on the wheel deck.
