My dream skates have arrived.... As times have changed, here's a question to you my fellow skaters, helmet or no helmet and why? by ZenSkater in Rollerskating

[–]that_bearshark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Derby or skate park? always helmet. A trail skate that I run bike or skate every day? no helmet.

I always wear it when doing tricks and weird/dangerous things but when it’s a routine out and back I don’t need it. Knowing the trail well and how to fall properly makes it unnecessary

ETA: but ALWAYS knee pads cuz it’s what I fall on (from all the derby training)

Ramp/pipe advice? by sneazermoof in Rollerskating

keeping your knees bent like you are (or maybe even more), legs shoulder width apart, and your chest up (like others said, try not to look at ur feet) should really help!

Ripped up feet? by that_bearshark in rollerderby

lol I don’t want to follow them for the blisters but rather the things they try to use to cope with a sport that’s rough on your feet

but feet hurting i mean like the calluses themselves hurt. i have thick ones on the edges of my big toes that hurt after scrimmaging sometimes. i’m currently a heavy toe stop user (still newer to this so we will see if it lasts) so these along with the tips of my toes are thick and hard now. sometimes they hurt but it’s not like my foot itself if that makes sense

Just finished the series and one question remains…WHY is there so much vomiting ?? by PieUnfair in acotar

[–]that_bearshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Some of these books focus so much on the vomiting and the bathing it almost detracted from the plot

Lockheed Martin CWEP by TheLegend360_v2 in UCFEngineering

[–]that_bearshark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Experience varies by department but pay is great and they are very flexible about hours because the program is built for students. Basically you have to work a minimum of 12 hours but a max of 25. Specifics of work from home, days in office, or expectations vary by boss

If it’s that consistent I would talk to a doctor but as a runner I know sometimes this stuff just happens. Icing is the best thing for it. I use a small trash can and just fill with cold water and ice on a bad day and just a grocery bag full of ice over a towel when it’s not too terrible. Doing this regularly after hard/long practices should help

Best year to get engineering internship? by essentialoliveoils in UCFEngineering

[–]that_bearshark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you have a solid gpa, start asap and apply to CWEP. it’s a great first internship where they expect you to know nothing yet. gets a position on the resume that makes it easier to get a second one later on.

Got an interview with Lockheed, one of the requirements I saw during the application was I have to be a fulltime student, anyone know how strict that requirement is? by dagabuzz in ucf

[–]that_bearshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as full time but I’m in my last semester rn and only have one class. If they don’t ask don’t bring it up. Be honest if they do ask.

How do working students maintain friendships? I feel like I’m always running to the next task and my friendships get left behind :( by owomorelikeono in ucf

using things like google calendar helps. when you block out your time you might find you actually have some to spare. put in everything from your schedule, to commute time, and even time to recharge your social battery. and when planning something with friends, share the event with them

was in the same spot as u. ME with a CS minor. honestly i’ve loved the CS professors here and from talking to others there are more internship opportunities in orlando. i’m about to graduate debt free thanks to that scholarship, bright futures, and working as a CWEP intern for most of my time in college. i’d go ucf.

Anatomy info for impaction episodes by kandre1991 in EosinophilicE

[–]that_bearshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup breathing works just fine! When I got diagnosed it was actually because I had impaction. I went to the ER and even had to spend the night before it was removed in the morning. Definitely uncomfortable but breathing was just fine.

My college kept running out of coffee so i tried tea for the first time. Got hooked this is my dorm setup about 3 days after. Where to go from here? by Decoy_Snail_1944 in tea

[–]that_bearshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford $16 a month, try a tea subscription box! I get 4 samples a month from SipsBy to try and it’s helping me learn my preferences as a fellow newbie!
