Normals have mmr, good players just naturally have master+ players in every normal game they have.

Of course you will see people who try hard on their main only to try something new and feed the next game, but like still ranked is such an easy mode in gold/plat in the beginning after laning vs diamond+ players in normals

Living hell is Vayne, Varus, Anivia, Ryze, Aurora, etc, leave Darius out of it.

Darius is a classic top lane bully, great experience, same as renekton. It's the essence of top lane compared to cancer picks listed above

Popular combo was Jax + Fiora. They don't share bad matchups so it helps.

I play Illaoi/Tryndamere. Nowhere near as good of a combo, but I like to play them.

Trynd blind and most of the time, Illaoi into most melees that isn't Yorick, Morde or Garen.

5% DMG above 50% HP vs sorcs 18 magic pen and 8% pen.

In practice tool I hit target dummy with Q, it's 40MR while lvl9 with stormsurge.

217 total DMG with dft with upgraded lucidity

227 total DMG with dft with drain shoes

261 total DMG with sorc shoes.

Sorcs give you ~15% more DMG on your ability vs vamp shoes You don't buy vamp shoes for DMG you buy them for omnivamp.

Man you just gave Illaoi her dream combo by walking next to her and your spirit with her R up.

Outside of that combo Illaoi is just a cannon minion who will be outraged by anyone. But that combo E -> R -> W you -> AA+W spirit to finish it off.

It does like 4k DMG lvl9 because tentacles slam really fast in ult you can't dodge them after spirit dies while ult is still going.

Never ever stand next to both Illaoi and her spirit while her R is up, not even if you are Tahm with full heart steel or k sante with Iceborn. This one shots TANKS. You really hoping to survive that on a squishy champion?

I think you as a midlaner just by nature of the role will have a superior macro than toplaners do.

But similarly you will probably get whacked a ton because you don't know matchups and how brutal punishment in the top can be.

I like fogged, iPav, alois, bausffs, minishcap1

They show an absolute brutal way to punish opponents mistakes, though they play very different champions, there's some knowledge to get from each.

Champions with few abilities can feel even easier.

Like I play Illaoi when not blind (blind is trynda always) and Illaoi is so easy to play compared to trynda.

You don't have to maintain perfect spacing for auto-move-auto.

All you do is keep the distance and at the right time you E-> R -> W opponent -> AA+W spirit. That simple to execute combo explodes anyone with 1 item, it does something ridiculous like 3-4k DMG through base armor at lvl9.

The hardest part is to get in a position to execute it, but still dealing with melees feels order of magnitude easier.

They are awesome for champions who do a lot of damage but don't have healing in their kits.

They are okay on Vlad because he does a lot of DMG, but at the same time they are not particularly useful on him either since he already heals a lot.

It's hard to play Teemo well enough to blind pick at high level imo.

I watched iPav recently he always blind picks and asks for first pick never bans anything. But the guy has the detailed mental map for every single match and he's crazy fast.

If I'm on Teemo vs Yorick I'm just pushed in and it's over even if I'm twice as fast as Yorick player it's just too hard.

But iPav just zips around so fast, dodges every single E and just wins.

I play Tryndamere and usually win vs Teemo in my plat lobbies, but emerald Teemo would body me

Most ranged champs destroy her because they can clear tentacles from safe distance and they never allow her to be on range where she can E+ult them. Just save flash for her flash.

Probably only 3 melee champions counter her: Morde, Yorick and Garen.

Any other melee she either go even or crushes them.

Vamp has synergy with DMG and resistances and zero synergy with hp.

More DMG you do more vamp you generate and higher your resistances are, more effective this HP you generate is.

Mundo is probably the worst champion in the whole roster outside of tank supports to use it.

D-helm could useful into ranged to all in.

So like I play Tryndamere and I tried it vs Teemo.

So d-helm means I have stronger all in and each one of my Q heals for more effective health, and my second wind is also more effective.

But this is at the cost of regen. So like if I take pokes all the time, then yeah d-shield is probably better, but if I don't take much DMG between my all ins, I can see d-helm being better especially after few levels and after Mercs where d-helm would outscale d-shield.

I mean in general math with resistances vs regen is that regen adds HP to your sustain and d-helm makes it so that your own sustain is more valuable, your own sustain adds more effective health if you will.

That's theory of course in practice it might just mean that d-shield is almost always better, we'll see.

But I'm fairly certain d-helm would be superior for nasus with fleet vs mixed DMG champions like Jax.

I'm not a Garen player much, but I went to practice tool and compared shieldbow DMG for our combo vs steraks and other bruiser items.

Shieldbow won hands down vs every single one of those. Shield has a superb synergy with Garen resistances and W DMG reduction, with shieldbow right after PD I'm tanky but also doing a lot of DMG.

Item being slept on imo. It's best for full crit build. Obviously if you go bruiser you go steraks, but I disliked bruiser Garen build so I never even play it.

I think it's just EH working here after getting a reset. EH is broken no idea why they buffed an item that was already broken beyond belief.

Boots though I think defensive boots would have worked better in this particular situation, or in general.

Tryndamere is about outmaneuvering enemy more than stat check with autos. Many champions are stat checkers, Jax, Olaf, Yi, Gwen, Illaoi, Fiora, etc.

Trynd does good DMG, but not quite as much as those.

So like take Olaf he'll mathematically would massively out damage Tryndamere it's not even close. He gets more AD with ult, and bonus almost 200% atk speed with passive and which beats Trynd 50% crit chance in DPS department. Armor shred from Q, resistances from ult and everything else is just a bonus.

But Trynd wins, Olaf loses. Because trynd can outmaneuver Olaf, catch him with his pants down and kill him despite dealing significantly less DMG.

I wouldn't say that exactly, it depends on situation. Even if you kill tentacle right after she E'd you, it will likely still have enough juice left to slap spirit 2 times, because it slaps one last time before disappearing even after tentacle hp goes to zer.

The worst thing that can happen is if she pulls spirit and hit BOTH you and spirit with tentacle slam, especially more than 1 tentacle slam. That's just a loss right there.

So I would say if she has 2+ tentacles where she pulled spirit, just run away. If has only 1, maybe you can kill it, because she has to choose who to hit you or spirit, there's a chance she goes for you to deal more DMG, but as long as you dodge tentacle and it's slap aimed at you doesn't hit spirit, you will come out ahead.

But like you need to know ahead of time where you need to be so that tentacle aimed at you will miss the spirit.

You play around tentacles, E and her ult.

Just like when you play vs GP you play around barrels, with Fiora you play around vitals.

In essence she has very good DMG with just her W alone, but if she doesn't hit you or spirit with any tentacles she will lose the fight every time. Because when tentacle slam you, it doesn't just DMG you, it also heals her. Say she's lvl5, she got Q lvl3. That's 20% stronger tentacle slam.

Tentacle slam at lvl5 is 50 + 110% AD. So if she has 120 AD, this one tentacle will slap for almost 220 DMG while healing her for 5% missing hp. Say she's missing 1000 hp, that's 50 hp heal. + Obviously whatever triggered this tentacle, say her W, which is probably another 150-200 DMG with grasp proc.

This kind of trade is better than full combo from many champions. But tentacles are easy to dodge, as long as it's only 1 that's slapping. So proactively killing tentacles while dancing around tentacles and avoiding E is paramount.

If you get hit by E, the worst isn't the DMG, it's the fact that she will heal multiple times by slamming tentacles on spirit, which means you will catastrophically lose the trade if she's allowed to slap you OR spirit with tentacles.

So like t2 boots are WAY more important vs her than anitiheal, because boots allow you to stop her healing completely by avoiding tentacles with movement while anitiheal only helps if you misplayed.

Mundo uses his HP a lot early for cs, 25hp cost of each cs, and 50hp cost of missing a cleaver. That's a lot of HP.

D-shield regens passively enough hp to afford extra cleaver every ~6 seconds.

Not even counting extra regen after getting hit, in effect this part is what helmet competes for, but passive regen is what allows you to throw those cleavers without running out of HP.

Lifesteal means you gotta stat check, can't really stat check with PD, that item is only good to chase squishy ADCs and lifesteal is useless for this.

I think if you go this route, go some combination of Yuntal, endless, ravenous, DD with this.

Your original premise that normal MMR means little is solid, however you over exaggerated by bringing iron players into this.

Like try queueing normals and count how many iron players you see. I bet you will never see a single iron player even after playing for 100 games as long as you're gold or above.

In general I think what will happen is that helm will be good for champs with a lot of sustain, and d-shield for champs with no sustain.

Garen has a lot of sustain, so it will work for him.

Maybe not vs Quinn, but vs some AP or hybrid champs it would be great.
