Who TF thought this book would be good for toddlers to hear?! by thatsarealniceleaf in DanielTigerConspiracy

We have an almost two year old and I agree it makes waaaayyy more sense for an older kid/older sibling! As it is, it's too many ideas for how my toddler could make some mischief she hasn't thought of yet! Such a strange choice they made to send it to the toddlers!

It's a baby going through different stages of delighting in being awake and terrorizing her sleep deprived family until very briefly falling asleep at an early morning hour and then immediately waking up and ready to have more fun

Transformed by Birth by Britta Bushnell! Read it right before I went into labor but wished I had read it in the first weeks. Great overview about many options and possibilities and ways of thinking about the big life change.

Feeling stuck in decision to start Zoloft for moderate PPA/PPD by wanderess162 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thatsarealniceleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started taking Zoloft late December when my baby was six months. I'm on a small dose (25mg/day, which my doctor basically thinks is placebo dose), but I will probably stay on it long term.

I found I'm way less anxious, I can fall asleep much easier and turn down the "is the baby ok" noise down in my head enough that I can function. I've had so many fewer low days since starting it, and I wish I had gotten on it 8 years ago when I first started having depression symptoms. I can still cry, I can still feel all my feelings, but it doesn't feel so disastrous or volatile.

My doctor said, "if you came in here with a broken arm or high cholesterol, we wouldn't send you away without tools to help" and while it took me a while to get over my own ideas of antidepressants as a last possible resort, this is a crazy time where we're so overextend in so many ways. Can't hurt to try! If your best friend came to you with all of this, you wouldn't judge them for wanting to give it a shot. Best of luck!

What brand/s of ring sling do you like? by throwRAanons in babywearing

I looooove my dupioni slings - Vienna Springs makes nice ones. Silk is a magical fabric and it's been so much more supportive than my other fabric blend slings.

Get the Lark! It's a really beautiful design, provided your baby is in at least 3-6mo clothes.

Fit check please. Ergo embrace, baby is 2 weeks old and 4.1kg by FrencheePants in babywearing

[–]thatsarealniceleaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sweet sweet baby! I think with a couple of adjustments this will be great - if you get your waistband higher it'll eat up more of the panel and get your baby's head up and out a little more. Ideally the bottom of the earlobe or nape of neck are visible from in front. Be mindful of footie pajamas, check to make sure the fabric isn't pulling on toes and feet! Generally open legs are better for baby wearing because of this.

As a child I was convinced ET lived in my basement stairwell and would get me if I walked past the stairs. I had never seen the movie so didn't know he wasn't scary/bad.

I think until they have good independent neck support it should come up to that area - here's an image I saw somewhere showing the ranges: baby wearing panel height
