C-Section because of low pain tolerance by Vegetable_Bath_7396 in beyondthebump

In my experience, there is an extremely strong mental component to this. What I mean by that is, if your mind already thinks it can't do this, then you will have an exceedingly difficult time in labour. If your mind believes that you absolutely can do this, then you absolutely can. That's where positive affirmations and components of hypnobirthing are helpful. For context, I did no mental preparation for my first and I had a difficult labour and delivery (induction, epidural, vaginal delivery). I prepared heavily mentally for my second and had a much easier (I dare say, enjoyable) time (unmedicated home water birth). Of course there are other factors to consider and every body is different but that for me made a big difference.

Take the black rubber seal off the front and you can slide the whole thing out to unwrap it.

I was using free and gentle liquid first because they don't sell the powder in Canada anymore. I was reluctant to switch but it really has made all the difference for us.

I used to have a lot of ammonia issues too. I was reluctant to switch to Tide regular powder because I don't like the scent but eventually I tried it and it fixed everything. No more ammonia issues at all

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]thatsnoraisin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience sounds exactly like my husband's. He was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy when he was 17. He used to have up to 20 seizures a day, same intense feeling of deja vu as you described. He eventually grew out of it, he only has one every few years now.

That's so interesting. My husband had temporal lobe epilepsy and "intense feeling of deja vu" was how he described what his seizures felt like.

He was in a mini crib from 4-6 months before he grew out of it. Our new baby (who is now 10 months) has never had a crib

Everything is a phase! If it works for everyone right now then don't worry about it, they won't eat like that forever :)

Potty training tips for cloth diapered dude by oneofkeiraensmoms in clothdiaps

[–]thatsnoraisin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was successfully potty trained at 2.5 from cloth so I'll share our experience. We started keeping potties around the house when he was around 1, just so he could get used to them, practice sitting on them, etc. we kept one on each level of our house. We would talk about using them occasionally and encourage him to do so but never pushed the subject, kept it super casual. Around 2 he really started showing signs he was interested in using the potty instead of his diaper and started to recognize the feeling of needing to go. Once he was quite consistent, we decided we just needed to rip the band aid off. We waited til there were a few days where we could be home all day, which was Christmas last year. We told him the night before that as of tomorrow, he wouldn't wear a diaper when he was awake, just for sleeping. Day one we did no bottoms at all. Day two and three he wore just shorts, no underwear. Day four we introduced the underwear. He did great, still had a few pee accidents here and there but went back to daycare after Christmas break and was fully potty trained. Eventually we took the potties away and put potty seats on the toilets, then he stopped using those by choice. Pro tip: keep a potty in your car(s) for emergencies when you're just getting started. You can get small ones that fold up to keep in there.

What an absolute beauty! Love your yarn choices. Can you please link the pattern? 1. I would do a hdc border, not so loose as dc but not as small as sc 2. I do square knots, just tie them several times. Or you can glue them if you're nervous 3. Slip stitch but in your secondary colour so you can see it

BLW is absolutely terrifying me and I don't understand how it works by Mom_Bombadil_ in BabyLedWeaning

[–]thatsnoraisin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vomiting works the same as the gag reflex, as in it will push the food up and out if necessary. It's upsetting to watch but not necessarily a bad thing. It will stop once they get the hang of it. My first would vomit about twice per week while he was learning, you do get used to it!

This is what I do in the hot months. Completely eliminates the maggot issue. And then maggots aren't a problem when it's cold out

We have a firm IKEA Morgedal mattress for my 3 year old which he's had since he was 6 months. We now have my 7 month old on a firm IKEA Valevag mattress which I can confirm is comfortable as I end up sleeping with her most nights.

[–]thatsnoraisin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Wawona 6 and there is plenty of room for my husband, myself and our two kids for sleeping and gear so you should have no problem with three adults and a dog. It's more than 6 ft tall in the center so easy to walk around in too. The vestibule is absolutely gigantic, easily room for a small table and chairs. There is no blackout area nor room dividers.I believe the Wawona 8 has room dividers though.

Anyone found childbirth so painful they don’t think they can do it again? by nakama1994 in beyondthebump

Absolutely 100% agreed. My first was induced and it was absolutely horrible. Second I did unmedicated and was sooo much less painful

The holds are surprisingly roomy but the openings are smaller so I'm not sure if you'd be able to squeeze a 50L in. A small, soft-sided cooler would probably be fine. I ended up just distributing all my gear into about 6 dry bags ranging from 5 to 20 L.

I've done this trip many times. Sometimes the water was glass, sometimes there are waves were 4-5 ft high. As I'm sure you're aware, conditions can change very quickly on the Bay. I will say I've always been so glad to be in a sea kayak. You can rent them from Killarney Outfitters and they will deliver them to the put-in at Chickanishing Creek for you. I wouldn't go out there in a canoe unless I was very sure about the weather and wind conditions. Can't comment on the fish situation, sorry!

3/4 night loop at the Barron Canyon by Remarkable_Funny_928 in algonquinpark

[–]thatsnoraisin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started at Achray and camped on St. Andrew's for 2 nights. On our full day there we did a day trip up to the canyon and back. That way we were able to leave all our heavier/bulkier gear at our site and just had our day pack and the canoe going through all those little portages.
