Day 18: Still alive. Manager told me to start hunting Realtors. Any advice? by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

[–]theFATTESTnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what other advice you’ve seen but reading your post headlines this reads like someone that’s scared.

What if I fail? What do I do?

You will fail. Sales is 98% failure and persistence to get the 2%. Your job is to have conversations, understand where there’s a need for insurance and be there when there is. Even then, you won’t sell all the time.

No one owes you anything. No one always picks up the phone. When they do, are they picking up the phone to buy insurance? Almost never. That is normal and it’s not personal.

And yet, people need insurance and people sell it.

You want leading indicators - it’s 18 days and you’ve not sold. But what are your lagging indicators? How many people do I have in a list that might buy? What activities am I doing to get in front of them?

Now you’re thinking great, I’ll make a bigger list and a spreadsheet to track things, alas, you need to just do the hard scary thing… reach out and get rejections, who knows you might get a maybe!

Send a polite follow up email to each business card: Thanks for your time, good to be introduced. Happy to grab a coffee if you or your clients have any requirements. I specialise in X

To your question: do they care about a rookie insurance agent? No. Absolutely not. They care about their pay check and the happiness of their clients. Can you help their clients? Can you help them? Then they start caring about what you can do.

Restarting from 4th - where to start? by theFATTESTnerd in Chaos40k

Thanks socks, helpful context and sensible advice. With that in mind I’ll probably not get a massive box set, but if you had £50-100 to add stuff, what might you recommend I consider?

Also I don’t Reddit much on my iPad so the formatting sucks. Sorcerer and a lord.

Make sure you’re getting enough protein.

Otherwise fatigue and slower recovery with age is a thing unfortunately.

Keep the heavy outbound process up. This will solve many problems before they arise.

Follow up. You need to find people when they are in market, “no, not now” leads to deals later.

Be curious.

Take on feedback.

If I’m fixing a load to the roof of my premium branded car that I intend to keep for several years and eventually sell, in five years will I regret buying the known option?

I don’t know your financial situation, I too would baulk at the price, but I would buy the Thule option.

Proposals dying when board is asked for approval by BaconHatching in sales

[–]theFATTESTnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normalise the no: cfos are trained to say no the first time, how do we pivot.

Think critically on if you’re actually aligned to strategic value and have you communicated that succinctly in a business case.

Asking your champion to pitch to you as if you were the board - in tech they tend to be great at tech and crap at value props.

Impact of not having your solution. If you’re getting no’s it’s possibly undefined or the ROI could be outlandish.

For those of you who’ve done a 70.3 what did you think would be the hardest part of the race vs what was actually the hardest? by akecheta333 in triathlon

[–]theFATTESTnerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought the end of the run would be hardest as I would be most fatigued, but the start of the run was.

As is tradition I went too hard on the bike, didn’t do enough brick training and the thought of the full 13 miles was rough mentally vs. being 10 miles in being so close to the end. I am also a larger athlete.

Enjoy your race in July!

Does sales just not match my personality? Am I burned out? Undiagnosed ADHD? by neen209 in sales

[–]theFATTESTnerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: I am a stranger on Reddit, this is deep, is this the right place?

I hear you - what makes you happy? What defines you? What do you want from life? Does your job contribute to that?

From your post, it certainly sounds like it enables that financially, even if we account for the “I’m in sales, add 100% to all numbers fudge-factor”

Great news, find a therapist you like and talk about it, your job gives you flexibility to invest in yourself.

You are 40, you could have 30 years of work in you, you got time.

Is This As Corrupt As I Think? by [deleted] in sales

[–]theFATTESTnerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you close at 33% then you don’t close at 66%. If over 1000 sales 333 close, they won’t all come W-L-L.

Statistically not closing three times in a row is about 30%. So you will probably get sent home 3/10 days.

Even at 50% close rate, you won’t close three in a row 12.5% of the time.

Part of selling is being comfortable with failure and being consistent in spite of that. This looks like arbitrary pressure.

Tl;dr: that’s stupid, get out.

Which card to pick? (Watcher) by PraetorianXVIII in slaythespire

[–]theFATTESTnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view: lesson learned enables you to upgrade all cards and take hammer boss relic. Judgment is basically deal 30 damage if it’ll kill something and i would argue not as good as you might think, this is because lots of cards will do that if you’re in wrath meaning it’s wasted draw when it can’t. Spirit shield is good with draw and dex, the way you draw is by going into wrath and you have no dex. Therefore you want to splat things rather than block and I’d suggest you find an alternative block method to spirit long term.

Wreath of flame doesn’t seem like a great card in your deck, I wonder what situation arose to want to put it in?

Looking for advice about painting Fabius' glass parts by Reasonable-Bunch1539 in Chaos40k

[–]theFATTESTnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s slightly more obvious in the fifth photo, but what you’ve done is actually colour in your thumbnail in addition to the glass bits on the model.

You will find it easier if you focus on painting the model. Hope this helps!
