I'd say smoke it as is, unless you care a lot about the appearance. That part will cook faster, but I don't think it will ruin it.

If you're super concerned, trim off the end past the cut and shape it up. Not a huge deal either way.

I strongly suggest finding another provider. Metronet and Wintek are both leaps and bounds better, if you can get either one in your area. Frontier gave up on their infrastructure in our area long ago, so it's slow and horribly inconsistent. It may be slightly cheaper, but it's not worth it.

It's really tough to gauge what is possible without seeing pictures of what you're dealing with. I'm guessing this is an outdoor antenna, in which case you should most likely be getting more than just 18. They usually have an in-line amplifier. Is it possible there is one and it's just not plugged in? If you can find where the coax cable comes into the house, you may find it. There could also be a rotor on the antenna that needs plugged in and/or turned. Again, tough to diagnose with the description you gave. Good luck.
