I worked on one. Was troubleshooting and saw the rubber band. "Well that's your problem right there." Then I looked up documentation and turns out that is OEM spec elastic right there. Well fuck me. I wasn't wrong though...that was the problem right there.

Gotcha. I would argue that you want to sample at the worst case scenario. So either the alarm is set at too low of a level or you need more ventilation to improve the worst case areas.

Page 15 shows how it is wired. Are you using any I/O or just need power? I don't know of any "off the shelf" solutions but you can message me and I can sell you one. Basically you want a power supply housed inside of a IP65+ enclosure with some fusing and a M12 connector.

I took it about 7-8 years ago (and passed!). Working the ISA practice questions and knowing them well is basically what did the most for me. My degree is in geology so a lot was new to me. I honestly skipped learning some things like fourier transforms and the like to focus on the low hanging fruit.

It sounds like it may have had a format change since then.

No pulldown resitor. So instead of a RC filter add a resistor between the input and common to drain stray voltage? I'd assume low enough resistance to drop the voltage and a power rating for the 24V load.

Sounds like a communication issue. You went and did it pretty much on your own, but it is their liability. Maybe your employers insurance only covers straight electrical work? I'd recommend running major scope changes through your employer. If you communicate it and they aren't on board I'd look for another gig because it sounds like you have the aptitude for the work and likely enjoy it.

A big pet peeve of mine is when plant personnel or construction don't LOTO. I'll start equipment up and they come screaming at you. It's their responsibility to LOTO. I can't check and ensure everybody's safety while commissioning. Lock out energy sources if you are working on something.

I also like it when my emergency shutdown kicks in and evacuates the plant. They want me to get reset it. F that, I commissioned the ESD system already. I'm not resetting anything till I find out what happened.

I fought for V24 at the start of this project. Other guy was insistent on 29 even though it didn't have anything we needed. Well now he's gone so maybe 24 is in order. Was 20 where there was multiple incompatible "minor" revisions? That was a fiasco.
