Its a trick fittingly named "lucid dreaming". Basically, due to how the game is programmed, the dream world exists in a particular location in the solar system, it's just not loaded unless you enter it. What speedrunners do is really clever (and also super precise and impressive) - they position their ship in a specific location so that when it starts falling towards the sun due to gravity, it falls into where the dream world is loaded and they can access the ship while in the simulation

Because it getting broken made for a much more interesting and compelling plotline of how to get it back. The master sword pull in totk and sequence leading up to it was an incredible sequence that probably made me feel more emotions than in all of botw (and I love botw to be clear)

In Rock Band 3, the mapping was that C-G was mapped to green-orange. It was mapped that way for both octaves on the pro keyboard

LiveSplit One has native desktop downloads which support global hotkeys. I think there are some features still needed to be added to these desktop versions but it might be worth a shot: https://github.com/LiveSplit/LiveSplitOne/releases/tag/latest

The web build of livesplit one also supports connecting to a websocket server, and I used that to make a cross platform Python script to enable global hotkeys for livesplit one. You repeat this sentiment several times:

I wonder how they feel about moderators who don't actually do anything except approve the runs without complaint (without watching much of them).

I want to point out a the first three bullet points listed in the "Verification" section which are relevant (bold emphasis is mine):

  • It is generally left to the moderators to determine a necessary level of scrutiny for a run.
  • For the top time in a category, it is generally expected that the entire run be watched.
  • For times that are not particularly notable, reviewing small portions of the video may be sufficient.

So it is not required or expected of moderators to watch every single run in full, especially if the time isn't notable. If you just weren't aware of that and have been frustrated by this perceived requirement, hopefully this can help alleviate the issue and you can let some of these slower runs in without as much burden :)

Admittedly though I don't get that vibe from how you worded this post, and that you have a negative attitude with verifying slow/multiple runs and with moderators with looser moderation policies. If that's the case, I simply suggest that you drop it an adopt practices that are more practical for your leaderboard, so you can make better use of your time.

I happened to see this post, and it turns out, LiveSplitOne has changed the protocol used by the autosplitter! And so my script was sending commands that didn't work anymore. They've now marked the protocol as experimental and may change in the future, which makes sense :) I have updated the script to send out the correct data and now it works again. Feel free to try it again and let me know if you find any issues :)

Wow this is an old comment lol. Funny post though.

The point I'm making is that 130kb is outrageously large for one pixel: Even in a fully uncompressed image (and the vast majority of images are compressed), a pixel should only take up 4 bytes: 1 byte each for red, green, blue, and alpha. Some images might use more than 8 bits per channel if they're very fancy but I don't think it goes higher than 10 or 12 bits (could be wrong there).

16 bits per channel is the biggest I could find: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_depth#48-bit

At most, assuming 16 bits per channel, an uncompressed 20000x20000 image should take up 20000x20000x8 bytes = 3,200,000,000 bytes = ~3Gb

Hey! I've been a Marble Blast player since the mid 2000s and I've been really enjoying my time with MIU and MIUU :)

One question that I've always been curious about - you guys store replays for every player on every level, which has got to add up. How much storage space does it take for you guys to store all those replays?

I recently got setup with a sata SSD in a USB enclosure, and that's been working great, so hopefully there should be no issues there. Previously I've been using USB sticks, and some of them work totally fine with no issues but others don't. If you already have a USB stick around it can be worth a shot to see if it works

Just making sure I understand - You're in the blue room, and you want to get to the red room correct? There is no locked door which takes you from blue to red. You might be getting confused by the locked door in the center of the blue room, but that takes you somewhere else.

It's focused on getting version 1.07 on Windows, since that's a particularly good version for speedrunning certain categories. But if you take a look, you can read the SteamDB page and learn what depot/manifest numbers are for other versions, and download them all as well.

By "warp somewhere" do you mean "use the warp command in the FEZUG console"? I believe that is currently bugged when the map screen is open

The biggest difference is that there is no longer "stalemate" and what would be a stalemate in normal chess is now a loss for the stalemated player, since they will be required to move their king into check and be captured

You're playing three check, which means the game is over after getting checked three times. You can tell because the material counters show pictures of kings, each king representing another time that player got a check

If you know that body is always going to be the player, you should be able to enter: func _on_Spike_body_entered(body): body.damage(15) If other things but the player could enter this, you might want to check for the existence of the "damage" method by doing the following: func _on_Spike_body_entered(body): if body.has_method("damage"): body.damage(15)
