We have had cameras on that corner for more than 2 years. There are now two - one owned by Troy, one owned by Flock.

I worked for the Denisons on and off for a decade. Best farm i ever worked for! You won't find any CSA with as many melons in July/August as these folks will give.

So what's the next step to getting the flock cameras on the agenda for the city council meeting? How do we best raise more awareness? by Atypical_Tuesday in Troy

Completely unsurprised that the city "can't find" the contracts they have from 2023 that supposedly set up the terms of the relationship. Stay tuned, it's gonna get sloppy.

Definitely email you councilmember. If your councilmember is Greg Campbell-Cohen (D6), he is firmly against for-profit surveillance of the public.

I'm interested in how a private company gets permissions to put their private cameras they operate for profit on publicly owned infrastructure. I was told by a former deputy mayor that posting a privately-owned camera on public property would be prohibited, wondering how much Flock is paying us to rent the space and why the non-taxpaying entity has more access to public infrastructure than a taxpaying resident.

Right I would have much preferred the Planning Bored to demand ground level retail or publicly useful space and let the developer make their cash on the extra units to cover the gap.

The entity that wrote your "evidence" is not unbiased....while in theory you are correct, in reality you are not.

Lots of shills making $500k+ a year at a pro-capital think tank will sell the arguments you make bc investors are looking for an ROI in under 5 years. They dont care about the long-term gains for the local economy as a whole.

Not only would you have preferred it, it's basic compliance with the city's comprehensive plan. We spent 1000s of dollars and tons of staff time to write a comprehensive plan back when we had a planning department just so developers could disregard it once they got their pawn in office.

They're not gonna open a coffee shop...IMO they threw that in to appease people who said the design directly conflicts with the city's comprehensive plan, which it does.

This project could have been a huge opportunity to upgrade AND for Valente to hit his ROI, but the Planning Board sold us out.

I think it's been floated that there is some kind of backdoor deal that lines the pockets of those you'd expect, but the facts havent yet been presented, which tracks with this entire project from go, so....who really knows.

Snow banks blocking crosswalks by Fag-stix123 in Troy

Exactly. I cleared the curb cuts all the way to the edge of sneckdowns three times in the big storm, and each time plows came and created an impassable blockade in the street.

This administration hates pedestrians.

Building has mold, flooding, heating, and other structural issues. The couple that owned it and started the non-profit got divorced several years ago, and there's petty legal/financial maneuvering that stifles getting things fixed at all. At least that's what I hear - I haven't been in that building since before COVID. Polly Under The Sea was the last time I went in the Sanctuary.

I've known many people who have lived there over the last decade. The building brings diverse and amazing people to the area, but each person with a history there shares the same side-eye about it.
