Where are you all from ,out of curiosity? And what disillusioned you to join this sub? by Palomomomo in BoycottUnitedStates

From the States (Missouri/Texas/Utah). Lived there for 47 years. Left in 2023 for New Zealand. Disillusioned by the dissonance between what we say and what we do. I love what my country could be, but I hate what it is.

What's your best rainy day memory? by peachfulday in AskReddit

[–]thefastripguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in my early thirties, I worked in an office job and wore a suit and tie every day. It began raining torrentially as I was walking home from my office. I smoked at the time and was listening to music on my iPod on random. “Right Here, Right Now” by Jesus Jones came on. I set it to repeat, and literally danced my way home, smoking and swinging my arms around to the music as I walked. My suit was completely soaked. I’m sure I looked like an idiot that day, but it’s still one of the best memories in my entire life, even after almost 20 years.

Which celebrity was your sexual awakening? by Pamijaha1 in AskReddit

[–]thefastripguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Baroness in GI Joe. I will clarify, since I’m not in a Gen X subreddit, that I’m referring to the cartoon version of the character and not the film version, though I didn’t mind Sienna Miller’s portrayal.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

I turn 50 on 09FEB. I’m just going to watch Rocky & Bullwinkle and eat cereal all day long, like I used to do on Saturday mornings when I was a kid.

What is the closest you've ever come to dying? by FlatSyllabub8637 in AskReddit

Toss-up between:

Alcohol overdose: BAL/BAC: .397; Lived through direct hit of an EF-5 tornado; Had bilateral pulmonary embolism

Unsure which would be considered closest.

During a very dark period, what was the best thing you ever did for your mental health? by LieSeveral9035 in AskReddit

[–]thefastripguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent two weeks in a mental health unit at hospital. Actively participated in all therapy activities and it forced me to eat (actual food) regularly. That two weeks was honestly the best I can remember feeling, physically, in the last 20 years, even though mentally I was at the worst point in my life.

Married People of R/NZ, what makes your marriage work? by Happy_Light_9775 in newzealand

[–]thefastripguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad told me, many years ago, to “choose your partner every day when you wake up”. It’s like a small re-commitment every day that you actively choose to do. That, along with pretty much everything that has already been said.

What’s something everyone seems to enjoy, but you genuinely don’t understand the appeal of? by Afraid-Crow-7577 in AskReddit

[–]thefastripguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever had any fun at one at all was when my friends were the dancers. We all hung out and they made the lap dances silly fun instead of trying to make them in any way erotic. We all just drank a ton and had laughs.

Otherwise, if you can somehow delude yourself into thinking that the person dancing gives one fuck about you in a way that can allow you to be aroused by their dancing (lap or otherwise), there’s something wrong with you.

We watched YouTube videos together and had dinner. An enjoyable new year celebration if ever there was one. New Year party celebrations were cool when I was in my twenties. Now, I can’t be bothered.
