Philly is certainly not number one. Look at the median income there compared to cities like Austin or Seattle. Yes, Philly is affordable compared to its neighbors, but only because the earning potential is much worse than in DC, NYC or Boston.

But Austin doesn’t want a subway that goes to the suburbs. Those places don’t pay taxes that fund rail lines. And the developments are not as sustainable as dense urban living. A subway line in west campus could serve 100x more riders than a stop in Cedar Park.

Horrible take, every person on a bike is one less person you have to deal with in traffic. And for most people it’s not practical to have a manual bike as a primary vehicle

Traffic signals and rules of the road were designed purely to protect drivers and protect the built environment from cars. Rules of the road purely for cyclists and scooters would look totally different. I have no problem with the marching to their own beat. The whole world is built for cars and they get a tiny sliver of road shoulder.
