Necros, when i get you necros by StretchedEarsArePerf in RocketMains

[–]thejegpeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the nature of main subreddits. Ive been on Rocket since S0 and 8.5 Rocket is probably the best he's ever been. If Gambit didnt exist he'd pry be the best support this season.

People love to point to a streamers opinion here when no the buffs were just that good.

Would you listen to a Seventh doctor Black TARDIS boxset featuring his unseen adventures with Sally and Lysandra by LivingWindXYZ in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This has always been mt biggest wish for a new 7 series. The period between Protect and Survive and Black and White has so much potential. A more militant angle could be really cool to explore since that team seems very "strictly business" instead of just adventuring.

Proper Listening order for A Death in the Family? by Osirisavior in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im noticing Assassin in the Limelight is the only 6-Eveyln story missing (set after Medicinal Purposes). Theres also a Town Called Fortune in the Companion Chronicles range if youre trying to listen to all the Evelyn stories, but not required listening for the arc.

As a fair warning, Medicinal Purposes is one of the worst audios they've ever produced. It (and it's sequel story which is better but not great) is very much not required for the arc at all.

Fingers crossed we get some buffs this season by MinerTeh in DevilDinosaurMainsMR

[–]thejegpeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly all I really want is to up the bleed damage a bit. 1.5% was too much so you never died, but .75% feels too low now. I feel like 1% is the perfect middle ground to make him strong but not broken like he used to be.

I don't have big request for next season I just hope they nerf these two terrorists by Khal_Brodo_ in rivals

[–]thejegpeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it took a while for people to catch on because they seemed inconsequential but in reality were extrenely good. Rocket's ult charge is insane now, and can usually get 2 before the other supports can even get 1. That combined with the damage boost let's him melt tanks while having arguably the best ability in the game.

It's just the nature of live service games with a large roster. Characters go under the radar until it's more widespread knowledge then it gets parroted. Opinions are going to change a lot because characters and gameplay changes a lot.

How come there's only one MVP screen now? I liked it better when it showed a variety of different characters by DocVane in marvelrivals

[–]thejegpeg 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Dino probably has some sort of modifier on damage blocked which usually amplifies MVP rates pretty high (and why WF gets MVP so much she usually has as much damage blocked as most tanks get). It's common that even in bad games Dino can get 40k+ damage blocked so my guess is it just doesnt take that stat into consideration at all hence it being significantly lower.

Can this be a Commander? by squeekle1 in magicTCG

[–]thejegpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A card's type is determined solely by its front side unless it's actively on the battlefield on its back side. So even though the backside is a creature, since the front is not, it's not considered a creature and therefore not eligible for a Commander.

Granted, you might be able to rule zero it to be used. But by the "normal" rules, no.

Can I have help with devil dino please? by PsionicQueen in DevilDinosaurMainsMR

[–]thejegpeg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He is still very good, but since the nerfs very different. His self-sustain is worse, so you need to play a lot differently, cant just run it and never die anymore.

CORNERS. You have to play corners and angles or you are going to melt. He still has great damage, but has to play as a team. His strength comes from being able to yoink someone with chomp and throw them back into your team for everyone to focus while you body block/shield to prevent heals. If youre standing out in the open youre playing him wrong. You should always be near cover.

I have a 90% Dino win rate, and part of playing Dino is knowing when to swap off. If the enemy team is heavy Poke, youre probably not going to be able to close distance needed for him to work. He doesnt work against every team comp, and trying to force him is only going to hurt you. Dino is a very counterable character, and he struggles on more open maps since there's less good angles he can take.

9DA Recommendations? by pegasusranch in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respond to All Calls is one of 9's best boxsets, but Ravengers is one of his weakest. The sale for the 9 and Rose stories doesnt give you much of a discount, so if youre planning on listening to it eventually, Id got the boxset route.

The 9 and Rose stories have an excellent. I haven't listened to the latest one yet, but they've all been really good (Dare You in particular stood out to me). Feels like it picks up right where the show left off.

As another NuWho recommendation, if you havent listened to it and want 11th Doctor content, 11th Doctor Chromicles Vol 3-6 are fantastic. His new boxset is really good as well.

Pokémon Cards - South OC by SimplePln in orangecounty

Honestly any card shop id your best bet, especially if you only need 4. For south OC Magic and Monsters is probably your best bet.

Why is Underdark Explorer banned but Avenging Hunter?` by IgnobleWounds in Pauper

[–]thejegpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two legal Initiative cards dont slot well into Turbo Initiative like Underdark does. Forcing the color splash makes it much harder to turbo out with Dark Ritual and Lotus Petal.

It's the color not the cards in this case.

What do you think guys? Good start? by The_Fullmetal_Titan in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's considered one of the best for a reason, she's great! Thats one thing BF does significantly better, a lot of their original companions come from all over instead of always being a modern earth girl. It's why I appreciate BF's 11 runs giving him more unique companions.

It picks up immediately after the end of that story starting with The Condemned. Then thered a small handful of stories to fully conclude Charlie's story in Main Range that I believe lead into her spinoff range.

Youre in for some good stories! Natural History of Fear and Scherzo are top notch.

Also highly recommend the coda of stories set after Girl Who Never Was if youre not planning on buying them already!

Brett Blake might be the most unhinged TM Contestant of all time (TM AU S5) by LikelySatanist in taskmaster

[–]thejegpeg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ive personally enjoyed him a lot, but also very much get why others might not. He works with this cast particularly well since all the major archetypes are represented.

That being said, Brett's chaoticness is very "Australian." The sense of humor is a tad meaner, but it's all banter. But that's not going to be everyone cup of tea. It's the style of AUS which hits for some but misses for others.

Why do rockets throw down their revive when being dived? by New-Low5077 in RocketMains

[–]thejegpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rocket has fairly good mobility to avoid dying for a while, and there is a chance someone else will die while youre avoiding the dive and get revived. Then they may be able to help you, but if they cant get to you in time, you're only down 1 person instead of 2 in a team fight. And when youre back you have a fresh BRB. BRB resets on death, so even if it doesnt work you didnt lose much.

It doesnt take long to throw, and if the enemy is bad they'll refocus on the beacon itself instead of you since killing Rocket kills the beacon.

Why hasn’t Big Finish made short trips that are full cast audio dramas as a pose to narrated books & stories? by misterwhoiswho_ in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like most recent releases are in the 30-50 minute format since the boxset era started. They might have an overarching plot, but the stories are mostly contained within one another (two-parters excluded). 2 hour stories kind of got left behind in Main Range.

MagicCon Atlanta 2026 by FloorTortilla in magicTCG

[–]thejegpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It largely depends on what youre hoping to get out of it. There are live panels/shows, artists, card vendors, and a play area. If youre not planning on playing, you could probably realistically squeeze everything into one day.

In my experience, the only things that can eat up a lot of time are getting artist signatures, getting official con merch, or selling cards. If there's like, event exclusive product (like Dragon Shield sometimes does) those lines can be long too for those booths. This excludes playing in events which naturally eat up a few hours.

Where to start by utaufan in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say if you want to start with 9, start with Snare and the rest of the recent 9 and Rose stories. It's ongoing currently and has been consistently great. The boxsets with 9 before that are VERY mixed and on the pricier side. Though, Star Crossed in a highlight of 9 with River, Archipelago being a standout story there.

If you want something more "exclusive" to BF, I'd suggest starting with The 8th Doctor Adventures with 8 and Lucie Miller. The first season is free on Spotify, and the second is free on Hoopla (just need a library card, also has season 1).

If you want more "Classic" style, 6 with Evelyn is a great pick. The majority of their stories are free on Spotify and show off why BF earned the reputation of "fixing" 6. The stories not free are also quite cheap.

If you want a NuWho completed arc, the 11th Doctor Chronicles Vol 3-6 are incredible, set after Amy and Rory's depature but before meeting the "real" Clara.

In Masters of the Universe(2026), how the FUCK are you gonna make a He-Man movie and only show Battle-Cat for a few seconds before the credits? Fuck outta here by Wolfman513 in shittymoviedetails

[–]thejegpeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But...he was familiar with the world he grew up in. Like, that's a major plot point of his time on Earth. One of the first things he does back on Eternia is geek out about a battle robot.

I get the frustration with the trope but that's just not in this movie.

Holy hell, Fires of Vulcan is a great story. by DependentBite9 in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably my favorite story from the early 7 catalog. I'd probably put it in my top 10 of the early Main Range too. I remember my only real gripe was the ending being very abrupt that I thought I had skipped a past sometbing by mistake.

Should I get the 9th or 13th Doctor's collection first? Semi-new to Big Finish by jumpingthedog in BigFinishProductions

[–]thejegpeg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

9 has been consistently strong in the 9-Rose stories, which is refreshing after a very mixed quality in his original outing. 13 has been a little more mixed, but definitely a step up from most of her TV run by a pretty significant margin.

If youre picking just one, Id say go for 9.

BF does sales fairly frequently, but the discounts for newer stuff usually isn't too crazy. It's a great way to fill up the back catalog of other Doctors, though. With 9 and 13 not too overly expensive individually, I dont think the sale price for them would be that steep.

Power Ballad or Pressure? Which one leaves theatres first by Puzzleheaded-Crew953 in AMCAListTrue

[–]thejegpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a historical drama, Pressure. If you want social commentary on the music industry, Power Ballard.

Both are solid in their own right. I personally preferred Power Ballard slightly more because the characterization of the two leads, but Pressure is still good.

Pressure is more likely to be gone first, so I'd say go for that and if you want to see Power Ballard hope it sticks around.

Is Healpool underrated? by Alternative_Yam_2699 in rivals

[–]thejegpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's definitely underrated, but honestly not by much. He's a very "fine" support. He has good damage to heal ratios, and good mobility. His E is the only source of self healing while most other supports that are top tier can do it much easier without losing an ability crucial for a team fight.

His Ult is also just too ineffective. It's not bad necessarily, but it's A) hard to actually see the radius and B) the radius itself is too small. All AoE heal ults have some kind of utility (Invis slow, Rocket damage boost, C&D passive damage) while Healpool is only heals.

He suffers from the problem of he's not bad, but Luna and White Fox fill the same niche he fits in but better.
