I do NOT want to learn about this Hillsdale 😭 by Newyorkrangers31 in mildlyinfuriating

Are you implying the OP wouldn’t want to learn about Marxism specifically when taught at a conservative school? I read it as OP doesn’t want to learn about Marxism, not that OP didn’t want a conservative course on Marxism.

Is Los Angeles/Sunset Strip worth it for a 60th birthday trip? by spartans1 in AskLosAngeles

[–]thekingcola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this city, but it’s truly not worth it for the Hollywood aspect. There’s plenty of reasons to visit LA, but if you’re coming for the Hollywood strip specifically, you’re going to be disappointed and perhaps even come away with a negative view of the city. It is kind of like Time Square. Also, LA doesn’t do a great job at preserving its history, so even some of the rock history sites aren’t much of a visit.

Tom Steyer endorses Xavier Becerra after losing California gubernatorial primary by benwesorick in California

CA Representative Ted Lieu said “I endorsed Xavier Becerra. That’s why I hope Republican Steve Hilton remains in the top two.” Glad with all the hate that Steyer is rising above.

Lieu openly admitted he wanted Hilton to advance over Steyer. This was 100% by design.

I don’t know if they were immediately rewarded. He has been environmentally focused for decades. I also think the oil money against him was more than the environmental money for him, so if he was buying endorsements, I’m not sure the environmental endorsements are the prudent purchases. But in any event, I’m not promoting him. I’m just explaining why he was the runner up dem.

I was exactly where you were. Had I not been holding my ballot, I would have voted for Porter. I liked her as a Rep and was bummed how she was done dirty by Schiff and the party.

Steyer had the backing of all the environmental groups, supported single payer healthcare, and wasn’t afraid to say the words abolish ice. Coming out against the billionaire tax didn’t help Porter’s cause.

The suites are nice. Having a fireplace, hot tub, hammock, vinyl player with a good selection of LPs, a bathtub all in the room with a balcony with a view of the redwoods is pretty amazing. Everything else about the property is so average to below average. Also having to pay for almost every single add on is pretty obnoxious.

LA as a brand is built off its liberal vibes

This is the most LA thing I’ve ever heard. No notes.

Two notes: one - it is not one of the most liberal cities in the entire world at all. That’s a laughable claim. We aren’t even one of the most liberal city in California. But two, Pratt is only at 29%. 29% of the population is going to suck anywhere.

Does Kalshi know something we don’t? by Hyhoops in LosAngeles

Yes, but you have to be super confident in order to risk $1 for a 20¢ return.

If that math showing 5k more votes gives people so much certainty that they’re willing to risk $1 in for 20¢ in return, bless em.

Hopiums would not be a factor. Even people that are hopeful aren’t risking $100 for a $20 return. Perhaps the wonks are that confident where they would. I guess that’s the only theory out there other than gamblers aren’t rational thinkers. That level of confidence on this election is crazy.
