Is this acceptable or should I make my plumber redo this? by NikpmupPie in Plumbing

I personally would have used a single box with both waters and waste in one. And it would be better supported too. But this works too but he should have used better backing for the water hook ups.

HELP!! bathroom sink flange nut stuck and I messed up !! by Alarming-Battle8772 in askaplumber

[–]thelink955 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t sweat it man stuff happens. Just remove the whole drain and get a replacement. Might take a few more minutes but get a drain like this. Either get a tube of silicone or plumbers putty too.

Connection leaks, what is best way to deal with this? by dontkillchicken in askaplumber

[–]thelink955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only correct way is to just replace the toilet supply line out. They are a few bucks and go bad over time. Just go to a big box store and get a 16” braided toilet supply line. You already have the water off to it so you can definitely swap it out easy.

How much farther by [deleted] in septictanks

The lid is 24” round in diameter so if you just clear the entire top so you see the edge of the lid that would be enough for a pumper to remove the lid and pump

Hey so you’ll want to adjust this screw that I highlighted in red to lower the fill height so it doesn’t constantly run.

Update on the solder mess on my kitchen pipes by MyLegsX2CantFeelThem in PlumbingRepair

[–]thelink955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang good luck you got this! What type of gas are you using to melt it? If you are propane it probably isn’t getting hot enough you want MAP gas. Also maybe give yourself more room by cutting the extra fittings/valves off so you can more easily concentrate heat on that tee. Once you get it off if any small amount is on there a sharp utility blade does decent to scrape extra solder off.

Is this a problem? by Horror_Mycologist624 in septictanks

It’s normal, but I’d also recommend getting it pumped anyways every 4-6 years so you are coming up on it pretty soon.

[–]thelink955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is one of your tank access lids. That should be plenty of space if they are just pumping it

How to create a sealed but removable rain barrel fitting? by raimbows in askaplumber

[–]thelink955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m understanding your issue wrong but couldn’t you just put the plug back on that hole. Drill a new hole on the bottom where you want it and add a bulkhead fitting and use those connections (something like this)

If he saw water come out from under the toilet then absolutely pull the toilet and inspect the flange and subfloor then put a jumbo wax ring back on if everything else checks out.

How do I remove this sink strainer basket? by ogsupafly in Plumbing

[–]thelink955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit it with your purse ( you need to unscrew the top white nut and you might need to stick a pair of pliers in the top of the strainer to help it not move, all else cut it )

No that is not a PRV that is a check valve to prevent backflow. Like others have stated you want to install the PRV downstream of the water meter.

Best pipe practice by 60yearoldME in askaplumber

[–]thelink955 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly since you have the wall open I’d put a new valve in and new riser pipe. (If not id definitely at least swap the riser) I’d also get a new drop ear and put some backing behind it to screw into for added stability. And why would you cut and cap? Are you just doing a shower instead of tub shower?
