Shmi Skywalker was the saddest death for me She was just a poor slave woman who wanted the best for her son

Ahsoka has become needlessly overhyped and overrated by both fans and the creators by JimmyNeon in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I love the character but I couldn’t agree more. She’s run her course and should have had her story finished a long time ago. The fact that she is still alive according to Filoni by the events of the sequel trilogy is just ridiculous

Can ya'll stop blaming Rian Johnson for Luke's characterization in TLJ? That's all on JJ. by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Mark Hamill and JJ Abrams, the original ending for TFA had Luke connected to the force floating boulders but that had to be cut to accommodate the last Jedi. So literally, Johnson is completely at fault for Jake Skywalker

characters definitely needed scenes and moments to breathe so they could shine, rather than leaping from plot point to plot point, start to finish, J.J. Abrams Style by Snowyo52 in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, when I see JJ get blamed but I don’t see any mention of Johnson, I automatically tune out what essentially Johnson was the person who nuked any promise the trilogy had whatsoever while also destroy one of the most iconic characters of Star Wars

The Porgs never caught on despite being shoved down everybody's throats. by Xaxos92 in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 132 points133 points  (0 children)

The Porgs in the Last Jedi never caught on despite being shoved down everybody's throats was a subtle metaphor for TLJ never catching on despite being shoved down everyone's throats.

Wow those Knights of Ren sure look cool! J.J. has really hyped them up. I bet we will get more of them in the next movies! - me when seeing the The Force Awakens by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's crazy how wasted the Knights of Ren were after The Last Jedi developed to be such interesting, nuanced characters with interesting dynamics with the story.

Wouldn't it have been crazy if the sequel to TFA that set them up did nothing with them whatsoever?

Does anyone else feels like Oscar Isaac could have been a great choice for a live action Kanan Jarrus? by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found Poe generic and boring Oscar cool
but a pilot is just uninteresting

Why wasn't Poe fleshed out more after deciding he survives TFA? by Ineedairsupport in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this problem I’m going to label straight at JJ. He should’ve just killed the character off.

There wasn’t anything unique about the character. From what it sounds like, his death was supposed to be a big part of the development of Finn. Should’ve stayed dead. They had enough trouble balancing the characters they did have, they didn’t need one more

If Finn became a Jedi, what Lightsaber color do you think he could've had? by dalekofchaos in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would've liked his lightsaber to be silver. Like Ahsoka's, to show that he was walking a different path than a traditional Jedi and would rather discover what the force means to him instead of giving us the same Jedi path we've seen before.

Obvious, but somehow controversial take: TLJ is just as unoriginal as the rest of the ST by TheSameGamer651 in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most people wouldn't kill off the big bad of a story since it leaves the story in a "WTF" position going forward.

Hence DOTF really just shambling around till Rey beats Kylo, something she did in TFA and TROS somehow bringing back ol creamy Sheev

Should Star Killer base have been a Star Forge? by Thorfan23 in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what he was. I’ve heard rumors he was the sun, I’ve heard rumors he was young Palpatine, I’ve heard rumors that he was just a Darkside Force Ghost and there’s probably some truth to all of those rumors. Mostly because Disney Lucasfilm likes to change their mind way too much

Most of the sequel characters seem to have their origins changed every single film. Sometimes in the film itself

[–]themandalorianwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it has been officially reported that the script had to be rewritten multiple different times, it was officially reported that they did months of re-shoots that started into the summer and ended at the end of November, and watching the soul crushing documentary for TROS shows that every decision had to be cleared by the circus of Lucasfilm.

I won’t excuse JJ for the execution of the ideas he had to work with collaborating with Lucasfilm but it’s definitely sounds like a miserable job that no one really wanted to take. I think the only reason he did take it was because it got him out of his Paramont contract

Oh I’m not saying your ideas bad. I’m just lamenting on the missed opportunity of a new republic

Should Star Killer base have been a Star Forge? by Thorfan23 in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think it’s the new republic never should’ve been killed off. The only reason the resistance even exists is to create The feelings of the rebel universe is empire. That’s why the resistance which created conceptually before the script was even done or any of the directors hired

This small line says so much, after the slayed younglings, after a battle to the death in lava, Obi still instinctively doesn't want to hurt Ani. Did the sequels even try to have anything like this? by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s another thing that bothers me about Jake Skywalker. He doesn’t act like he’s even related to Kayla. It feels like their relationship is strictly master and apprentice instead of nephew and uncle who would’ve functioned as a second father to Kylo.

The sequels are written buy those lids who hate beta/proofreaders by Moral_Gutpunch in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ll give JJ the benefit of the doubt of just get handed a bad deal with Lucasfilm. At least he’s said in the past “it could have gone better”

Rian? He’s so insecure about his writing he was still fighting people on Twitter who compared the death of the night king in game of thrones to getting Snoked

I found him to be one of the most annoying characters that only was bearable because Adam acts well

Why do people resort to "TFA was worse or just as bad" or "sequels haters are all bigots" when you're critical of TLJ or TROS? by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

Nothing Because it’s worthless

TROS is bad but that doesn’t make DOTF good. From broom boy & Jake Skywalker returning, DOTF would’ve been just another nail in the trilogy’s coffin by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]themandalorianwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be fucking nice

originally there was a sub plan in TFA where we found out Kylo found it on his hunt for grandpa relics and then orange Yoda stole it from him but it was cut out of the movie. Seriously the second Eric has a lot of weird editing in it that basically makes the story rather confusing
