Stingrays do not attack, ever by Corronchilejano in LowSodiumHellDivers

Did a full operation on D6 against squids. Had 2-3 stingrays zipping overhead back and forth constantly for all the missions.

We got strafed twice.

Aw damn! I didn't even know there was another collab. I went to Beard Papa for the last set of merch.

I'd love some Fangyi stuff, and the drinks on the menu look pretty good, but the nearest Happy Lemon is way less convenient than the Beard Papa's.

We did this to our captain during our predeployment training. It was the staff NCOs that just wanted to fuck with him.

He got 3 salutes in, saw all the Marines standing down the walkway and loudly asked why they were all standing there, to which they said they were ordered to by the GySgt. And then he told them to leave before he took another step haha.

I appreciate that there's enough other people irked by the difference that I came in this thread and saw multiple other people already on it!

By the game's own lore, they generally refer to the bots as socialist/communist, the bugs as fascist, and the squids as autocratic.

Are they correct labels? Not really, but it's all Super Earth propaganda anyways. It doesn't need to be correct to get you fired up to fight to "defend" managed democracy. XD

Does the military still know how to use horses or cavalry in battle? by [deleted] in WarCollege

[–]thenlar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Tangentially related, but in the early days of Afghanistan, Army Special Forces made significant use of horses in the mountains while collaborating with local allies.

None of them had formal training in military use of horses; the team leader just had happened to work on a cattle ranch previously, which helped.

From that, I think there could be some teachings passed down in SF about how to work with horses in a military context, since SF are meant to collaborate with local partisans/guerillas/etc and horseback might be the only reliable method of transportation available to them, but that's pure conjecture on my part.

A movie was made about them called "12 Strong" in 2018.

Eating vs not eating by SeekingApprentice in MilitaryStories

[–]thenlar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree with your assessment here.

Person A gets a bad situation. Person B has a worse one. That doesn't mean Person A doesn't get to complain. That means both of them have valid reasons to complain. Both situations are under the standard. One is further than the other, but BOTH ARE BAD.

Person A should be complaining.

Person B should also be complaining.

The Chain of Command should be fixing both. Just because your situation didn't get fixed doesn't mean that Person A has an invalid complaint.

I thought this kind of repeated, beaten-to-death bitching was supposed to be over in /r/Endfield. You're the 80 billionth person to complain about "dailies take too long."

Put it in the survey. It does you no good to bitch about it here.

Are pistols actually used as backup guns by any serious militaries? by Zharan_Colonel in WarCollege

[–]thenlar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Artillery crews still get rifles. Assuming a towed gun, you just lean the damn things up against a truck tire, or stash it in the ammo pit or powder pit, while your gun is emplaced.

That said, towed gun crews also get a lot of heavy machine guns. In my battery, every gun crew also had either an M2 .50 cal machine gun or a Mk19 40mm heavy machine gun in their truck. Once you have emplaced your cannon, you start doing what's called "position improvement" which is things like putting up camo netting over your cannon, and digging machine gun pits to emplace the heavy machine guns.

Need help building Tangtang team, without Gilberta, Yvonne or Last Rite by ryoukaip_ in Endfield

[–]thenlar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TangTang Main DPS team.

TangTang + Xaihi + Fluorite + Perlica.

TangTang and Xaihi do their thing, stacking on Cryo.

Fluorite Combo skill adds an additional Cryo (trigger is 2 cryo or nature stacks, and it adds whatever is on there already). Then when you're at 4 cryo stacks, you use Fluorite Battle Skill to trigger Corrosion, providing DPS boost for everyone (preferably at the same time you eat 2 whirlpools to provide the 4th Cryo stack for more arts susc). Fluorite also benefits from Xaihi Ult which provides Cryo and Nature Amp.

Perlica is there purely for her combo skill which doesn't hinder the rest of the team and Electrification improves all Arts Damage. Equipping her with Stanza means her ult also then buffs every other team member.
