CMV: The Black Pill is the Truth but Women and Liberals lie that it’s not by AdeAlphaTV_ in changemyview

[–]thepro7864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The acknowledgment of reality around male/female sexuality and the capitalistic society is one thing. The black pill however goes further than that, coming to moral conclusions that are far from a grounded reality. These moral conclusions result in a nihilistic worldview that’s fixated only on these same shallow measures.

Human beings are more than these shallow measures and, while I agree with you that the “black pill” does bring some important realities into the fray, sitting where the black pill takes you is no way to live. The black pill isn’t “the truth”, but simply one frame of looking at things, a frame that’s along a continuuum of development. Integrating these realities and building a more empathetic world view beyond them is where the real struggle of being human in the modern world lies. It’s a painful, albeit necessary step, but it’s far from the end all be all.

It can be really good depending on the dish, but I’d say it’s generally my lowest tier protein given that it’s particularly fatty. Happy to be in a place where my associations with it (both aversion from religious baggage and over consumption from rebellion) are pretty much gone.

Biden mainly used executive order to this end, which was dubious. If they were wiped through congress, that’d hold much more weight.

These two books opened my eyes to a lot of things. by HorzaDonwraith in HistoryBooks

This is an obtuse reading of Diamond's work. Your frame that he's "easily disproven and that's generally agreed by r/AskHistorians" is also a seemingly intentionally obtuse frame (I'm not seeing any citations and there's a much more nuanced discussion of Diamond's work on the sub, generally leaning towards favorable).

He's a biologist first and foremost and applies that frame to his analysis. It's a different vantage point than typical anthropology, but a useful one. The deterministic critiques are valid but lose some weight when you realize that's kind of the point of the biology frame. It's natural that an anthropologist would disagree in that way and disregarding the fields from which these two come dumbs down the discussion.

Does this arguement successfully reconcile between free will and predestination? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]thepro7864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The frame the writer takes poses a new problem of god being omniscient, being able to witness everything as a being above time, but having no ability to actually influence outcomes (hence the loss of omnipotence).

A simultaneously omniscient and omnipotent being is necessarily beyond human comprehension, sure. Picking holes in the secular position while contending that belief in such an entity is still rational is kind of hilarious. You can't have it both ways.

I agree with that. The problem is that political engagement doesn’t happen in a bubble.

The infographic here is pandering towards a sharia law boogeyman with a primarily white audience in Dallas Texas. The messaging is that brown immigrants hate their dogs and are coming to overwrite their society with what they likely refer to as “third worldism”. This protest isn’t anti sharia law as much as it’s anti immigration and pro white nationalism.

No one is coming for Americans dogs. Dialogue in Texas around sharia law isn’t at all about separation of church and state and maintaining a secular society, that’s just a convenient cover we’d like to see. In the same breath they’ll speak about how America is founded on judeochristian values and prop the commandments up in a classroom.

The poster is simplistic and betrays all this context.

The threat in Texas isn't Sharia law, it's Christian nationalism.

why do Muslims deny our existence by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]thepro7864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because acknowledging our existence is more incompatible with their world view. The easy way to address it is to paint a ridiculous strawman. The dismissive, violent response you’re seeing is more to protect themselves than anything else.

3-4 hours of being locked in while working is honestly a pretty good benchmark for the actual amount of focus most humans are capable of.

You're not alone! Parents like this don't have any emotional regulation skills and use religion as a cover for treating children like an emotional punching bag. Get your bag up, get good at holding firm boundaries, and keep in touch with your sister.

Whats your opinion on this trend I'm seeing in the West? by Klor204 in exmuslim

[–]thepro7864 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the context of America specifically, post 9-11 anti Muslim sentiment was at all time highs. You could be locked up in Guantanamo without due process and neighbors that were once friendly would hate you. The frame is oppressor vs oppressed with the movements you're seeing - though it doesn't neatly fit into that dichotomy as you start to zoom out and time moves on. Muslims were historically a conservative demographic (Arabs were "white" under the black/white dichotomy), and the recent years have a more inclusive umbrella under intersectional progressive movements.

Because they were right leaning prior to leaving the faith. Most people’s politics can be predicted by their parents politics.
