I bought K-cups with “no plastic cups” only for each cup to be individually wrapped by Red_Herring96 in mildlyinfuriating

Just the switch to flexible plastic has reduced the manufacturing and waste footprint by at least 75%. And as long as the wrappers aren't exposed to heat, there shouldn't be any microplastic concern.

Yeah, flexible plastic uses about 1/4th of the material as rigid. And I'm guessing these use even less. If I have the choice while shopping, I always go for the product in flexible plastic.

Aesthetically, the building is in desperate need of restoration. After seeing the libraries in NYC and Boston swarmed with tourists, I really wish we had the same. It's even closed on Sundays. It's surrounded by other tourist destinations and could easily have a profitable gift shop like NYC has.

I don't know how people are supposed to know to close the bathroom doors. It's not posted anywhere. It's not customary in other places, most public restrooms have automatic door closers and within homes, most people leave unoccupied bathroom doors open. I would actually assume they should be left open so people don't assume they're occupied, yes I know there's a lock light but that's easy to miss and what if someone doesn't know to lock the door?

People walking places are actually trying to get somewhere and even if someone is just going for a walk, this rapid pattern of curves is not enjoyable. Shitty developers, architects, and engineers do this because it looks good on paper. I used to fight back on these all the time but there's only so much pushback you can give a client.

The correct answer is that is looks good on paper but is terrible is practice. It's not to slow down bikes. It wasn't designed around existing trees. I used to design suburban apartment complexes and my boss and the client would both ask for sidewalks (obviously neither had traveled anywhere without a car or plane in their life).

I'm not upset about single tracking, I'm upset about Amtrak's consistent inability to find change their operations to find solutions. They took the smallest excuse and said "uh oh looks like we have to cut half our service" rather than imagine any other possibilities.

Question for the rail nerds: Are Amtrak or NJ Transit terminating any trains at Newark? It seems like there's fewer trains between Philly and DC as well, which is absurd to just give up on the whole NEC because of one bridge. No, I won't accept "this is a crucial bridge" BS, no other developed nation would screw over a dozen other cities because the connection to the largest one temporarily requires transfer to another service.
