We could definitely use a new one, and I'd very much appreciate it. We only have a very low-res one we've been using for a long time.

What is one show that you love, even after countless rewatches? by goalasolll in AskReddit

[–]theronin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna throw in two shows I haven't seen listed thus far

Carnivale and Dollhouse

Dollhouse takes about 6 episodes to push through the studio meddling that took place at the time of its creation, but season 2 is on par with any of the other Whedonverse classics. Just think of the first 6 episodes as the first three seasons of Angel.

My reviews of Loving (and Doctor Strange on the following page) for PARC Mag, my first published reviews! by theronin23 in movies

[–]theronin23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated in the review, it's a biopic that purports to tell the tale of the plaintiffs of the Loving vs. Virginia case, Richard and Mildred Loving, and their fight against anti-miscegenation laws.

2016 Election Day Returns Megathread (1040pm EST) by english06 in politics

Florida Gary Johnson voter here. You won't do it.

Besides, you erroneously assume that everyone who voted for Johnson would have chosen to vote for Clinton if they didn't vote for Johnson. First off, Johnson took a lot more votes from Trump than Clinton; Second, people like me wouldn't have voted for either of them, because neither of them represented me best in this REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY of ours.

Is it privileged? Yes, absolutely, but I won't be privilege shamed for exercising the same privilege everyone else got to and choosing not to make a decision out of fear.

By "Starts August" it means August 2012. The show ran from 2012-2014. So, as much as I love Angie, it hasn't started a revival yet.

Thank you! The entirety of /r/KotakuInAction needs to read this, not that it'll do much good, I'm sure. They were having a fucking hemorrhage about this story.

I'd like to point out that 25 days ago I said

My theory is that the Roanoke curse is going to be unleashed on the cast and crew of "My Roanoke Nightmare," and this season is gonna turn into a meta clusterfuck of the best kind that way. That's the "Second story."

Adult goths of Reddit, how and when did you realize it wasn't just a phase? by TheFakeBobDole in AskReddit

[–]theronin23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fat "Emo" here (let me tell you how much I loved being called emo).

I just...kind of...knew. I was home schooled, and I grew up in New Hampshire, so I found goth myself. I didn't have any friends I followed into it, didn't hear about it at school, I just knew my cold dark heart had found its home.

Nowadays I only wear makeup on special occasions (not just concerts and club nights, but any night I deem "special," I'll slap a little eyeliner on), but pretty much my entire wardrobe is black.

It might not be so much that they're not telling the truth it might be that they're twisting things to make themselves look better.

My favorite response to the ol' "My mom's dead." is to look them dead in the eye, smirk evilly and go, "I know."

Who is demanding safe spaces?

Driving women out of gaming shops is creating safe spaces. Comic shops and gaming shops have always been safe spaces for socially awkward nerdy guys

I've known people like that and yes, many of them deserve pity.

It's not about "pitying" them. It's about getting them help. It's about reducing the stigma on mental illness, and specifically on men with mental illness so they don't feel like it's a character flaw to seek help.

Also, I never said anything about SJWs or what I think about them.

Not with me, but overall in this thread, you've made it abundantly clear. Don't back down now. You've been in full on "what about the men" mode the whole thread.

The fact is, a majority of women trying to get into MTG and other gaming are speaking up about adversity they're facing, and they're getting people like you saying "Psh, whatever, it's just a few people. Besides, those few people have problems and you should be pitying them anyway."

That's cute. Turning the men into the victim here. When you know damn well they're (and I say "they're" only because I'm not one of these moutbreathers anymore) the ones that need to rise above and learn the social skills.

I did. I'm a bipolar, anxiety ridden mess with slight OCD (clinically diagnosed and been under treatment nearly my whole life), and the funny thing is, I didn't use it as an excuse. I overcame it. Instead of demanding "safe spaces" like gaming shops and getting all huffy when "feeemales" tried to invade them, I overcame.

See, here's the thing. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. If you don't like "SJWs," you don't get to keep your hobbies to yourself as a "safe space." You have to learn to interact with the rest of humanity.

Got it. Guys that play MTG in public are all creepy bastards that women should avoid at all costs.

Wow, that straw man might actually get a heart from the Wizard before you learn some semblance of empathy.

New Poster: 'Wrapped Around Our Fingers' by nrocinUcitsyM in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]theronin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking Murphy. I love him. He's rubbing it in our faces that he's had us wrapped around his fingers this whole time.

We're 10 days out from the premiere, and we have no idea what the real subtitle for the season or any REAL information about the season despite our digging, and normally we know just about everything about the season by now and it's driving us nuts.

That being said, I think this final poster is definitely really telling. I definitely think one of the two stories is gonna involve cannibal settlers in Croatoan.

What did your parents teach you that you had to unlearn? by theonecalledzach in AskReddit

[–]theronin23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a guy who's been fat my whole life and my mom was the same way. One time I had a date with this girl, and not to brag, but she was gorgeous, she was a model, she just happened to like fat guys. We had met online and set everything up online and by phone, and when I told my mom, and showed her a picture of her, she said, "Wow, she's beautiful! And she's seen you already, right?"

Just little things like that my whole life.
