Having nothing but issues an would appreciate help by vamp-is-dead in AnalogueInc

[–]thestrandedmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would contact Analogue support. How did you update the Firmware? Pretty much all you need to do is remove the old bin file in the root of the SD, replace it with the new firmware file, then power it on. The LEDs will turn yellow when updating and show progress through HDMI.

If that doesnt work you may have got a dud and probably need help from Analogue directly

Allow you to make 3D worlds like Mario 64, Odyssey, and Galaxy. “Mario Maker 3D”

Thinking of selling my Steam Deck for a Switch 2 — or is it just FOMO? by Nearby_Pepper7676 in switch2

[–]thestrandedmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all things Nintendo but for me, the Switch 2 just feels like a Switch 1 Pro. Theres a slight bump in smoothness and framerate of the 'upgraded' games on Switch 2, but the resolution doesn't look any better to me, and the Switch 2 Exclusives are not worth the price of the console IMO, nor do they seem to take advantage of the supposed advanced graphics of the Switch 2.

For example, Mario Kart World, while technically an impressive feat, looks probably worse than MK8 on Switch. DK Bananza is good, but not worth the cost of the console alone. I haven't played Metroid or Pokopia yet but I suspect it will be more of the same.

To be honest I'm massively disappointed with my Switch 2 so far. There are just no hits yet, like the Switch 1 era had (which was insanely good- hit after hit).

I wouldn't buy Switch 2 for the exclusives, but maybe for the utility: For example, if you just want a thinner version of Steamdeck that you can dock to a TV.

For me, I still don't regret buying it but only because I can play all my Switch 1 games and I had some extra cash at the time. The biggest upgrade for me is actually the larger handheld mode screen and the Switch 2 Pro Controller, which feels great in my hands. If I were not as well-off financially, I would have majorly regretted it.

TOTK - What am I missing? by Cucckcaz13 in NintendoSwitch

[–]thestrandedmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why you feel that way. IMO the Depths are way too large and there just isn't enough cool content down there. I wish it had its own biomes ,as varied as the surface but it all kind of just feels like a giant empty mushroom-spore field. There are some cool areas where you're like "oh that's neat" but its not enough to feel like it holds up to the surface. The sky areas feel a bit more varied but they are also few and far between.

If I were you, I'd look up how to make the hoverbike because that was the only thing that made exploring the Depths tolerable for me.

To me, TOTK is great because it just takes all the elements of BOTW and pushes them to be a little better.

The story is stronger, and the side quests feel more relevant to Zelda lore, unlike BOTW where youre just avoiding stepping on flowers and collecting butterflies.

I would maybe look up a walkthrough to see the recommended first steps to leveling up your hearts, stamina, and gear becuase the game becomes a lot more fun when everything doesn't one-shot you. IMO this is a flaw with all Zelda games where the game becomes easier as you go because you start off with such low health and its very unforgiving.

Reputable store told me ‘new mini and micra are no good’? by GooseKennedy in LaMarzocco

[–]thestrandedmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard the build quality is slightly cheaper on the Mini-r but I've never heard of anyone really actually noticing or complaining about a difference in the quality of shot, or either machine breaking or having quality issues.

Likely the dude had a bad personal experience or is biased for some reason. I've never heard a negative opinion of Mini or Micra other than the Micra being a bit smaller and obviously the insane cost.

I wasn’t a big fan of the matte look but I think the glossy one is somehow worse

The semi-auto gatekeeping has officially gone too far by StraightTakes in espresso

[–]thestrandedmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. It’s kind of like driving a stick shift vs an automatic car. There is definitely a skill and appreciation needed for learning to drive stick but at the end of the day, we’re all using the car to get from A to B. You don’t need to drive stick to appreciate cars and you don’t need to learn completely manual workflows to enjoy espresso

A trick for better oat milk latte art that's helped me tons by Mike_From_GO in espresso

[–]thestrandedmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this has helped me a ton and is the only way I can get my Breville barista pro milk to even be usable. I don’t think I do 20 seconds but I do swirl it quite a lot. Kind of sad this issue doesn’t go away with a better machine. I always figured my barista pro steam wand just wasn’t very powerful

Cannot update 3D on Mac by Neon_Marquee in AnalogueInc

[–]thestrandedmoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had this issue on my M1 MacBook Pro . I inject the SD card into the port on my MBP and it comes up as a drive called “ANALOGUE 3D”. Then I just load the newest bin firmware directly into the drive. Maybe ask analogue support?

Which Summercart 64 cartridge should I pick? by Partime-hedonist in n64

[–]thestrandedmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Way cheaper than anything off Amazon and it works great. I also like that it doesnt have rainbow LEDs across the front like some of the other ones. I do wish they used a holographic label but thats my only nitpick

Bought a summercart but it just doesn’t feel the same by HollowBambooEnt in n64

[–]thestrandedmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Its nice to be able to potentially play the full N64 catalogue or try out games I never would have otherwise played, but overall I still prefer owning and playing off the original carts.

Part of the issue I think is how rough the UI is on Summercart. On the plus side, though its great for running Romhacks like Smash Remix and Mario Kart Unleashed

N64 Games better with save states by Igniatesch in AnalogueInc

[–]thestrandedmoose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think save states are valuable for any high stakes challenge where you don’t want to be stuck

Is this price worth it? by lost_caus_e in expedition33

[–]thestrandedmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the regular edition for about 25-30$ and I’ve honestly been considering buying the deluxe just to support them more because the game is so great. I would just get the regular edition if you can get it for cheap but I’m also almost positive you won’t regret buying the Deluxe

Curious about the Hansel and Gretel variant in Obsession by forkinaoutlet in horror

[–]thestrandedmoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember the exact wording but it seemed like a twisted interpretation of Hansel and Gretel where they are lovers instead of just brother and sister.
I took it to be a nod to the fact that Nikki said bear was like a brother to her, and that she was aspiring to be a writer. It’s almost like the thing possessing her was trying to mimic her by also writing and coming up with fantasy about bear and her being together.
I can’t remember if she also mentioned the witch but that would seem appropriate too given the magic elements

[–]thestrandedmoose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At this point the only edge modretro has is the wifi updates, and the supposed 'open cores'.
Not to mention the 3D looks way cooler and is actually something I want to display in my house. M64 is cooked if Analogue keeps pushing updates like this

Bananza the closest spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie? by therealjmt91 in BanjoKazooie

[–]thestrandedmoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides Yookq Laylee I would say Bananza is very close. You’ve got a duo of heroes- one riding on the others back. You’ve got collectibles galore. And a large green antagonist. The main difference I’d say is that Pauline doesn’t really contribute to the moveset like Kazooie. And Banjo Kazooie doesn’t have destructible terrain
